Passage to India in stylish three-star boutique hotel in central Geneva
This six-story hotel in central Geneva takes its design aesthetic from the exotic travels of its namesake. Photos of writer Rudyard Kipling adorn the walls in the colonial-styled lobby. Indian statues stand guard. This 62-room property is part of the Manotel chain, which runs stylish boutique properties throughout Geneva. Both the Gare de Cornavin train station and Lake Geneva are within a 10-minute walk.
Highlights
- Indian- and Asian-style decor
- Central location 10 minutes from Cornavin train station and Lake Geneva
- Executive rooms with terrace and kitchenette
Rooms
The dark wood furniture and fabrics in deep red and olive create a masculine feel in the 62 rooms. Rooms include a safe, mini bar, high-speed Internet, free Wi-Fi, and an interactive flat-screen television with on-demand programs, web radio, and video games. Standard rooms are on the small side at 215 square feet. Executive rooms, at 322 square feet, include such upgrades as a sofa bed, bathrobe, furnished terrace, and kitchenette.
Features
The hotel serves a breakfast buffet and offers room service at lunch and dinner. The property refers guests to its nearby sister hotel, the Royal Hotel, for its Rive Droite restaurant and to another sister property, Hotel Auteuil, for its fitness center.

Clean and comfortable, great value
I stayed at the Kipling Manotel for a weekend while visiting friends in Geneva. I really liked that it was a quick walk from the Cornavin train station, which made the trip from the airport much cheaper than by cab (CHF 4 vs. CHF 30). At night, the area around the hotel does get a little sketchy; the walk home from dinner was a little scary by myself. Also, the electrical plugs didn't work for my computer cord, which was European, though it did work for my phone. Very odd. My room was warm, and the air conditioning didn't work, but I was able to open the window and it was a quiet and not a problem. The rooms were spacious, the bathroom very nice, and the hairdryer was quite powerful, aside from the annoying "hold-down the button the whole time" feature that is common everywhere in Europe. The hotel is very close to the lake, and the rest of the sights are walkable, as well. The U.N. and Red Cross are a bit far, but if you're up for the walk, it's not bad. The staff were very nice, and as a reminder - the city tax is payable on check out, but you do get a free transport pass when you arrive (handy when going back to the airport via train). I definitely recommend as a safe and relatively affordable option for all trips, with the exception of business.

Delightful Stay.
The staff was very helpful with directions on how to get around and with anything we needed. They spoke English very well. Loved the theme for the hotel. The breakfast was very good and inexpensive for Geneva. I would definitely stay here again.

Easy Access, Good Central Location
Our itinerary left us in Geneva for a single night. We picked the Manotel Kipling for its location near the train station and within an easy walk of the lake. Old town Geneva was also within an easy 15-20 minute walk. Despite being 300-400m from the train station the hotel was pleasantly quiet. We felt completely comfortable and safe walking in the neighborhood at night. We did not actually experience the amenities so they were only rated as Average/Ordinary.

Beautiful little hotel, near trains stn
Just two easy-rolling blocks from the train station, on a quiet pedestrian street. Short walk to the lakefront, cafes etc. Hotel is stylish, well-appointed with modern conveniences like an elevator, A/C, kettle, HD TV and free wireless. Good full breakfast and a pot of coffee. Good value for Geneva.

Short Stay in Geneva
Two nights in Geneva, Kipling Manotel. -Before leaving the airport baggage claim area, get a *free* train ticket at a dispenser against the wall. Use the free ticket to take the train from the airport to the Geneva City Center train station. Otherwise I think it's a 5 CHF charge outside at the train station. -The hotel is an easy 3 block walk from the train station. -Check in with the tourist information desk at the airport. The person at the desk was very helpful in providing maps, directions to the train station and info about which train to catch. -At hotel check-in we were provided with a "free" transportation card for any public transport within Geneva. There is a required hotel per person fee which covers this "free" transport card so you get charged this fee whether or not you use the transport card.

Perfect for us
We were there for one night. We arrived early in the morning from an overnight flight and the front desk was able to give us a room in a short period of time. The front desk was very helpful. It was a very good location for picking up a rental car.

The Great
Just perfect. Including free internet, but no breakfast included (at least in our package). Many hotels have their restaurants as separate entities. They offer breakfast as any restaurant would and charge well for that. The hotel itself, of course, is not that cheap.
