This hotel is the best situated of the cheaper hotels in lugano. However our room happened to be right on top of the funicolare so we could hear it go up and down all the time. Nothing to bad or amazing so overall and average ordinary experience but Lugano and blues to bop are awesome :)

Zimmer sehr klein. Dauernd starkes Rauschen vom Lift und von der Strasse. Wir hatten ein Zimmer im 5 Stock. Links davon Konferenzraum, rechts Toilette für Konferenzbesucher. An einem Abend 4 Std. nonstop Lärm von einem Kurs. Konf.Raum neben Gästezimmer ist unakzeptabel. Frühstücksbuffet ok.

It's a 20+ minute walk into Lugano from the hotel, but it's a nice walk by the lake. Apart from the walk, if you're just looking for a decent hotel which isn't too expensive then this is a good choice.

Overall a great experience. We had a view of Lake Lugano from our room and balcony which was amazing. We also enjoyed the weekend brunch in the terazzo which also had a wonderful view of the lake. The room was spacious and well appointed including the bathroom which had excellent amenities and a great shower.

Villa Sassa hotel has a spectaclular view of the lake, good facilities for excercising. However, access to the internet is not free of charge. You have to buy a special card every 24 hours for 25 CHF.
It is not cheap.
Description
The Hotel Calipso Park is located right at the Monte San Salvatore cable car station in Lugano-Paradiso, just a 2-minute walk from the lakeside promenade.It features wonderful gardens with an outdoor pool and a rooftop sun terrace overlooking Lake Lugano. There is also an indoor pool with a retractable roof and a sauna.All rooms in the Calipso Park hotel have a balcony.
You can park your car CHF 15 per day

- Parking is not included (15 CHF per night). The hotel practices "overbooking" for the parking, even though we paid for it had to park outside when getting back to the hotel late at night, the parking was full.
- Late at night, there was sometimes no one at the reception, we had to just walk in to get our key. Incidentally, we could have gotten any key, at any time of the day for that matter, different receptionists and no control whatsoever to check if you were not a thief.
- The water in the room shower was cold then lukewarm then warm finally after letting the water run for a loooong time, every day.
- The fitness were just a few rusty machines laid in the corridor...
- The "breakfast buffet" was nothing more than a lowly "continental breakfast" (not much more than jam on toasts, and some fruit salad from a can).
- No fridge/minibar in the room
- The hotel location was hard to find
- In the room, green blinking light right above the bed, a bit annoying
- bed too short
- chlore smell in the lobby corridor from the inner swimming pool
- the doors of the wardrobe were squeaking
- sauna was ok, but you have to ask reception first, have 7 CHF added to your bill and wait for them to set it up
- the roof terrace was nice.

Great value, quiet, great buffet. Kinda a business center hotel. Minibar is free (no liquor) and so is wifi. Only problem is if you arrive by car, hotel is in a pedestrian zone!! Difficult to figure out, GPS was all confused.

Extremely convenient for anyone arriving by rail (less than 20 yards from bottom of funicular stop which runs from the railroad station down to town). Hotel 15-20 minutes by car from Agno airport so equally convenient. very responsive staff, choice of pillows for added comfort. room upgrade recommended over lowest price room to get 1hr free wireless internet and great room for price

Although the annex offers a lower standard of accommodation than the main building, the views are just as spectacular from these rooms which compensates for the difference in standard. 07/09 MW The main building is grand and traditional and there is a modern annexe. Description
An impressive former home of Russian nobles set in stunning lakeside tropical gardens, Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola au Lac stands on the shores of Lake Lugano in the sunniest region of Switzerland. Fabulous hotel with outstanding views of the lake. Rooms were luxurious and well appointed. Even though it is not in the town center, easy bus line right outside the entrance. Highly recommended!

The friendly holiday hotel. Directly on the lakeshore with swimming-pool. The hotel has been completely refurbished. Ideal location for excursions. The Luchina family garantees personal attention and offers very good value for your money.
