Acquarello Swiss Q Hotel

This hotel is the best situated of the cheaper hotels in lugano. However our room happened to be right on top of the funicolare so we could hear it go up and down all the time. Nothing to bad or amazing so overall and average ordinary experience but Lugano and blues to bop are awesome :)

Franklin College Graduation. Literally steps (and a funicular ride) from the train station (funicular descends through the courtyard of the hotel). Funicular was a gentle machine that was not particularly noisy. We were there in mid May which was still cool (70's) but I could see how the hotel could be a little warm during the summer.

The hotel is very clean. The staff spoke excellent English, and the location is just awesome! The bed was comfortable but nothing outstanding. The only drawback to this hotel is that it is right next to the finicular. So from 5:30 in the morning to 11:30 at night you can hear a rumble from the finicular coming or going. Our room was not that loud, and neither of us had an issue with falling asleep.

Very basic and budget hotel in the centre of town. Room was comfortable and staff were friendly. Breakfast was quite good considering how basic the hotel facilities are. The hotel is right next to the cable car and is noisy and makes the hotel vibrate - a bit difficult to sleep. Lucky we were there in the winter time and could 'sleep' with the windows closed. The noise might prove to be rather annoying if you are there in the summer time and have to sleep with the windows open.

Next time I am in Lugano, I will stay here. The price is right and the location is fantastic.

Here is what they don't tell you. You can not park close to the hotel and good luck trying to find it. If you take the train to Lugano you have a better chance but if you drive good luck - that is literally what it took for us to find it. Staff was rude, air conditioner didn't work and the room was very stuffy even with the fan. Many items listed as in the rooms not there (hair dryer, coffee maker). And, don't forget about the trolley going up and down the hill right under your room every 20 minutes until 1:20 in the morning and staring back at 6am. I would never stay here again under any circumstances and have been in better accommodations in many third world countries.

hotel is over the trolly line that goes up to top of city....out room was DIRECTLY over this line, which rattled the room (except from 12:30am to 5:00am!!!)...the rooms need to be updated....we also had to park in the public parking garage a few blocks away....also hard to find hotel location (tucked way in back behind the trolly station, up the pedestrian walk. Also the most expensive room we paid for on our entire 14 day trip & the worst by far!

I stayed 1 day on the way to St. Moritz, Swiss. With their friendly help, I enjoyed most attractions in Lake Como and Lugano to my full satisfactions. And very kindly helped me to reserve a seat for Palm Express Bus to St. Moritz. I realy appreciated their kind service. Thanks.

Really friendly staff, clean simple rooms, perhaps not luxurious but a great price, and in such a beautiful city there is no need to spend a lot of time in the room except to sleep. The location could not have been better. If you are a light sleeper, just take along ear plugs to dull the whir of the funicular passing by. Breakfast was fantastic!!
