Dining
- Cotton Jazz Bar
- Cotton Jazz Bar the hippest and jazziest venue in Bangkok's China Town. From the incredible design that harkens back to the romance of 1930's Shanghai, a time when great jazz artists were featured in the best clubs in the city to the elegance and intimacy of 1950's underground nightclubs in New York, Chicago and Paris. Cotton has found the best Thai jazz artists to do their thing, including Siam Band, Harmony and our new favorite, Marshmallow; each playing all types of jazz, from avante-garde to bebop to jazzy interpretations of classic pop songs (think about Coltrane's "My favorite Things!). Open daily from 6:30 - 10:30 with amazing specials, drinks you can create yourself and fun foods from the kitchen that occasionally starts popping popcorn. Come join us and lose yourself in great music, freshly minted cocktails, fine wine and food. Step up to Cotton, conveniently located in the center of Bangkok in Chinatown.

Horrible place
It came recommended but I got the name wrong as this was horrible experience. From the check in where female was only interested in getting more money foe early check in. The room was old, bed like concrete shower swung all over and drenched floor outside called staff who walked over the sodden towels but not replace them only put old screw to stop the flying shower head. Not told where to get breakfast. I can't believe the score it has on this site it was horrible terrible would not go anywhere near it. paid for 3 nights stayed 1 went to Sukhumvit which was fabulous respectable area!!

Stay in Sukhumvit easy travel close to all transport. respectable area and not like filthy Chinatown where to be put off food is easy. Central World for best shopping don't waste time at markets which are filthy and hot. Central World is fabulous clean and food is cheap and hygenic.

Sanctuary in the heart of Chinatown
Needed to stay in the old city to be close to my daily classes at Wat Po. Chinatown was in close proximity and the Shanghai Mansion was the perfect oasis of calm and luxury stylings right in the pulsing heart of the busiest part of Bangkok. Excellent street food, markets, and resturants all around. The staff at the hotel were warm and welcoming and the room was perfectly appointed. It was wonderful to come back to the room and take a relaxing soak in my wonderful private bath. The beds were so comfortable and the entire hotel looked and smelled beautiful everyday. I even brought some Hollanders I met over to check it out and they were looking forward to staying at the Shanghai Mansion on thier next visit to Bangkok. Nice Noble Value as well. You must do a bike trip with co van kessel down the road. You really get to see Chinatown and a good part of Bangkok. I suggest the all day tour. Also, T & K seafood is amazing street food every night. 517 Massage and Foot Reflexology do great treatments.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Just eat from one of the street vendors. The food and values cannot be matched. Each time I tried a new resturant, I paid a lot more and didn't like the food as much as the food stall on the street. Just get in the mix and you are in store for a treat.

A place that makes you feel like royalty
The staff is very welcoming and the hotel's atmosphere made me feel like I was in a Chinese mansion. The staff will flag down a taxi for you and will help you find get where you want to go. There are plenty of great places to eat near the hotel as well as a super market under the hotel. In the the hotel there is a restaurant where they have live jazz band during dinner, but it is a bit expensive.

Short walk from hotel
During the day there is not too much happening near the hotel, but at night it it really lively with food stalls running up and down the city blocks and people sell other goods.

The room was very badly ventilated, no clean air whatsoever - and the A/C just made it worse, left with a head cold. Otherwise great place and great service.

Good for tourist who like Eastern
Good for tourist who like Eastern culture. The hotel room is spacious for its price and the complimentary breakfast is marvellous with 4 choices on the menu. Take a metered taxi at the airport to the hotel cost 300 Bahts (A10). Make sure you have got 25 + 45 Bahts to pay for the toll. Each taxi has got seat belts at the back seat but there is no buckle to be found. All taxi drivers though are nice but drive like a Grampix driver doing 130K on the 100K limit freeway. SO please close your eyes and pray for the 30-minute trip. The hotel is only a 15-minute walk to Hua Lomphong MRT station opposite to Bangkok Railway station. The subway (MRT) and sky train (BTS) systems are marvellous for visiting Bangkok.

It's a very unique botique hotel in the Bangkok China Town. The retro Chinese is fantastic, you will find a surprise at some corner of the hotel=) The is a good power shower head in hotel but the drainage is rather poor...so be careful for over enjoy your shower and flood the floor=p Other than that, it's a decent hotel sincere you wouldnt be using much hotel failities while u know there are some great tourist spot just outside waiting for you.
