Area description
There are two sides to Bangkok: one side reflects the ancient soul of Thailand, with its long and fascinating history; the other side is the frenetic modern metropolis that embraces the latest trends, both Eastern and Western. The two sides blend remarkably well - even the most jarring juxtapositions of old and new will start to make sense after a few days - and shrines in front of car dealerships or monks on all manner of public transportation will be sights taken for granted. Bangkok is not only the biggest city in Thailand, but also the most mesmerizing, with some of the country's most beautiful temples and shrines.

Very good 3-days stay

Swimming pool was very nice, room was really spacious and clean, stuff was very attentive. Swimming pool closes at 8pm, so that generally you can't use it after a day walk around Bangkok, that was a disappointment. And be ready to be charged for wi-fi (only 1 hour free for the whole stay).

Holiday break

Ver professional yet laid back. Didn't involve myself in all the activities as I was there for only 2 days, however I made use of the fitness center every day; well equipped for the person wanting to maintain fitness during their vacation.

Swissotel Nai Lert Bangkok

We tried the Swissotel Nai Lert after having stayed at The Merdien, The Oriental and The Shangri La and I have to say it was excellent. The property is easy to get around. The garden and pool area is truly unique in Bangkok. The service was excellent and food great. The rooms not quite as nice but very clean and well above average. The value outstanding.

Time-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

The City Link Rail from the 4th level of the airport to any of the downtown exits takes about 25 minutes and cost 40 baht or $1.30usd. An excellent value, fast and clean.

Whilst the Hotel is what I rate

Whilst the Hotel is what I rate one with typical warmth of Thailand. I encountered problem with checking at point of arrival at 4pm on our first (arrival) day. Reason : The check in staff could not locate my booking and they told me I'm lucky as they still have the rooms like I wanted (per my booking slip printed out of hotelclub.com website). They went on informing me of the rate they will be charging me, which is higher than the one I paid Hotelclub.com of course! I obviously refused that and insisted on checking in per my hotel club booking and will not make anymore payment than what I've paid hotel club. About 45 minutes later, the wiser of the reception staff allowed me the checking in, saying that she will check with the reservation department later. I wrote to hotelclub.com customer service division and till today receives no response Hotel Club.. Hello! This is for you to answer. Thank You.

Good, but doesn't top the value stakes

Stayed here for two nights, and one of three we stayed at in 5 night BKK stay. No real complaints and staff and pool were really good, location quiet, upmarket and convenient for a number of reasons. Hotel is 25 years old and has been overtaken by newer hotels who tend to offer a little more value. Lack of free wi-fi would be my only real complaint which was offered by other two hotels FOC.

Oasis in Bangkok

This hotel is in a great location, close enough to walk to all the main shopping centers and very close to the Skytrain and it is a bit isolated from the noise and bustle of Bangkok by a park, which is really nice. The pool was huge and set in a tropical garden, it was great to jump in after a long day of sightseeing and shopping. My husband used the fitness center and was very pleased with the equipment. The concierge was helpful and friendly. In fact, the only negative was one of the bellboys, we felt very mislead by him. He told us a taxi wouldn't take us to the Grand Palace as the roads were blocked that day and put us in a taxi to the pier to take a river taxi to the Palace. Well, we got dropped off at a pier that was just outrageously priced boat tours ($100+ per person!). We then had to walk 15 minutes to get to the correct pier with the river taxis and barely made it to the Palace before it closed. Once we were at the Palace, we saw taxis all over the place, none of the roads were blocked.

Splurge on dinner one night and have the concierge book a dinner reservation at Vertigo, one of the rooftop restaurants in the city, amazing views and food.
