Great location, lacking amenities for the price
I thought the staff at the Renaissance deserved an A++. They were so warm, accomodating and friendly throughout our 2 week stay for our honeymoon. The hotel is in a pretty good spot in between Chaweng and Lamai Beach, tucked away on its own little private strip of beach. Views were great, hotel was secluded yet still close to life. We stayed in a Garden room, which was really nice. The only thing that really bummed me out about the hotel is that they charge quite a bit for additional services. We also felt a little nickeled and dimed for things we felt should have just been complementary with the stay (internet, shuttle rides) considering that the nightly rate was much higher than other resorts of similar caliber.

Great Hotel - wonderful staff
It's a beautiful hotel sitting on a hillside with huge grannite boulders leading down to the beach. It's like a botanical garden, lush and beautiful, where someone carefully architected the buildings to fit naturally into the landscape. Great pools - great rooms. Private villas for those who want them. Best of all was the staff. The Thai people, in geneal, could not be more pleasant and friendly, and the staff was all that and more. Lovely people. Will actually miss them.
