Avista Resort and Spa Kata Beach

This resort was really nice in general. The best part was the pool area. Beautifully landscaped and plenty of shade and comfortable chairs. Wish they had a place at the pool to get dry towels. They give you a 2 beach towels in your room everyday, but it would be nice to replace the soaking wet ones. I chose to stay at the pool on days I was not scuba diving, as opposed to going to the beach. The beach was a big disappointment. Crowded and walking there you cross an area that smells of sewage, which drifts over to the beach. You also have to pay for chairs there. The sunset was fantastic there and definitely worth the walk to the beach for that. The room was very comfortable with a good view of the pool. Very modern technology with the light controls, TV, etc. The food was good, what I expected. One evening they had a buffet and the band was fantastic. Walking up the hill from town was an annoyance. I am someone who loves to hike, but that hill was VERY steep, especially when it is hot out. The other negative was the taxi mafia. It's nuts that the cab from the airport costs 700B but the cab to the airport was 1500B. What a rip off. Although the resort was very nice, if I returned to the Phuket area, I would stay at a hotel that was directly on a beautiful beach and also had the wonderful pool. If that isn't important to you, this is a nice place to stay.

Almost everthing is perfect, but two points should be ware: 1. The air condition is very loud, but strangely, it didn't disturbed our sleep. 2. Hotel charge double the fee for taxi to-from airport. You can take a metered taxi from airport to the hotel, but cannot book one form the hotel without paying double the price. We ended up to walk down the hill and use a local travel agency to book a taxi to airport.

We enjoyed our stay here. But be aware that the amazing breakfast may not be included (it is 15 dollars a person). So the cheaper room rate that we thought we were getting was really 30 dollars a day more expensive than one that includes breakfast. The breakfasts are AMAZING so you want to try to get it included. The hill is fine to walk up. It is about 150 feet long. It was steep but it was nice to be in a quiet part of town and away from the busy street. The staff is excellent. I like a soft bed and these are stiff but I was still comfortable.

This hotel is definitely worth it!! The staff is so helpful and friendly, they make you feel so welcomed and right at home.

Avista is such a nice hotel! The staff are very kindly and helpfully. The room is clean and comfortable. Everything is in order.I like the bathtub ! I can watch TV through the big windows when I stay in the bathwater . The place which Avista stay is a quiet place, easy to fall in sleep. Also the massage is quite good provided by the hotel! I got a 40% discount and 2000thb voucher from the hotel! The Gym, the play center, the library and the swimming pool, all of them is provide the best for guests. I like Avista! It is the best choice!

Short walk to the beach and provide free shuttle to Patong Beach. Great place to stay. Highly recommend this place.

The Hotel was the perfect distance from the beach and Kata center. (Both can be loud and crouded) The hill was a bit of exercise but definetly worth the climb to be a bit secluded. Hotel and staff were great and would stay there again.

beautiful club room with views of bay. only drawback is that the hotel is on top of a hill so have to walk up and down to go to beach/city. breakfast was good.

Hotel was nice location where was close to Kata beach. Also night was very quiet to relax. Hotel Service was very nice.
