Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket

The Dusit Thani perfectly blends comfort and luxury, it is ideal for families, honeymoon and business or professionals looking for a quiet getaway. The service is outstanding, the Club rooms are great and excellent value. Had a fantastic holiday!

The hotel was located a bit far from a big town (Phuket). It was a 35-40 minute drive. The room was always cleaned to perfection but the pillows were very hard and bed not 5 star quality. Over all a nice hotel if you're not looking to party and go out at night.

While on a business trip to Thailand, my adult son joined me for a long weekend in Phuket. We were able to get an excellent, off-season rate (under $100/nite) at the Dusit and were a little worried that the hotel and service might not be up to par. We were pleasantly surprised! The Dusit has an incredible beautiful setting on a gorgeous (quiet at least in off-season) beach. The room (upgraded to an ocean view) was quite nice, the pool and landscaping were exquisite, but what really distinguished the hotel was its excellent service, from the personalized check-in, to the friendly and helpful staff, to the gratis 5pm checkout to accomodate our schedule for a massage. We took advantage of the hotel's guided bike tour to a local market, it's 3 hole pitch and putt, it's excellent restaurants, etc., etc. The only "downside" is the hotel's rather isolated Laguna setting...a $25 cab ride from Patong. So it's not for the party hounds (but looked excellent for families with kids). Even the weather cooperated...3 days of mostly sunshine in the heart of the rainy season. Highly recommended!

We used the tour guide at the hotel to reserve fun activities. Phuket Fantasea was interesting but more like a goofy circus, better for kids I think. Scuba diving with H20 sports was very fun, highly recommended. Elephant trek with Bang Pae was fun and worth the experience and great pictures. The breakfast buffet was amazing, very delicious and many options. We booked a massage with the Angsana spa, very good but also very expensive compared to other massages around Thailand. Patong waterfront is great for shopping and dining, and fun/crazy nightlife.

The Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket was a joyful way to finish off our three week holiday in Thailand. Five-star accommodation and facilities, good beach and excellent pool. The lagoon provides further entertainment as you can kayak around yourself or use the (free) ferry service to travel between the other resorts and facilities surrounding the lagoon. We only stayed one day and night but the three (teenage) kids loved it as did the wife and I. The only downside is the excessive pricing at the cafe and restaurants. Although the food was excellent, it was very pricey, even when compared to Asutralian prices, let alone "normal" Thai prices. That said, Carolyn and I (sans enfants) will start our Thai holiday there next year with three nights before going south to Karon Beach.

Dushit Thani is a very pleasant and relaxing environment. We received an upgrade to a suite which was a welcomed bonus. If you are wanting a relaxed holiday in paradise away from everything then this is the place to be. If you are wanting hype then this will not be the place for you. Only negative is that once at Laguna you are virtually a captured audience and prices at the hotels are much more than everywhere else. Would stay here again and recommend hotel.

I only rated location as average because Laguna is remote from any "happeneing" places so its a half hour drive from Patong, but if you want a peaceful retreat its perfect.

Great resort but good if you would like to be away from the action.
