Erguvan Hotel is one of the first class Istanbul Boutique hotels perfectly located in most convenient spot in Istanbul This Boutique Erguvan Hotel Istanbul features contemporary as well as monumental guest rooms with elegantly appointed create an air of serenity and are tastefully decorated with modern furniture earth tones and attractive prints on the wall. And nonsmoking rooms are available for your convenience. While the original building dates to the 19th Century, we have completed a full renovation including an elevator. In Turkish Erguvan means Judas tree - Cercis siliquastrum This small tree or large shrub is a delight to see in early summer when it is covered with rose-purple pea flowers. They appear in clusters all over the plant, even on main branches and sometimes the stem. Even when heavily pruned or pollarded the plant will continue to flower. In the autumn the 10cm leaves, which are thin and almost round, turn yellowish-brown

Don't expect anything extraordinary

For a four-star hotel as Erguvan was advertised on your website, I had a small room with an extremely small bathroom with a tiny shower in it. Out of the 5 nights I spent here, I had no hot running water on two nights. No special amenities that you would expect from a four star hotel except the magnificent view from the breakfast area on the top floor. So don't expect anything extraordinary and you'll be fine. I won't stay here again.

Erguvan Hotel - Istanbul

Overall the hotel a pleasant surprise. We booked based on a reccomendation from another on-line travel contact. The location was amazing, fairly quiet at night but just a few steps from the center of old town Istanbul. The rooftop breakfast was always a pleasant morning experience although the food was a little too local for our tastes. I usually don't consider breakfast as an adventure (wrong time of day)! We did have a minor issue with our airconditioning system that took 2 days to fix but it was not from lack of trying on the part of the staff. Take them up on their airport shuttle service. That way when you step out of the door or the hotel, you are instantly in Istanbul! The staff were very helpful and assited in arranging guides, tours and reccomendations. Definatley adds to the Istanbul experience! Will use them next time!

Excellent location

This hotel is centrally located to all the great local sites. The breakfast was ample and nice. The staff was very courteous and attentive. Our room on the third floor had a view of the Sea of Marmara. The view from the terrace (4th floor) is absolutely gorgeous - the Sea of Marmara and the Blue Mosque! The room has a nice big safe big enough to put a laptop in for security.

There is a nice and reasonable restaurant, Doy Doy, just a blovck away which has a great view from its' terrace. Arasta Bazaar (open until 9 PM) with many boutique shops and restaurants is a couple of blocks away.

Great Hotel

We were warmly greeted at the hotel and ushered quickly to our room which was appreciated since it was evening and we were tired. Although the room was small, it was spotlessly clean and modern. The hotel is equal to a small European family-run establishment, and we were quite pleased that we stayed there. The breakfast buffet is large and varied, and the view from the terrace is magnificent. The water in Istanbul is not potable and that's an inconvenience, but we were able to walk across the street and buy several large inexpensive bottles of water. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to friends and family!

The hotel's location can't be beat if you want to be able to walk to the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Hippodrome. There are several restaurants recommended by Rick Steves that are located close by. One of them, Doy Doy, has an excellent rooftop view of the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque, and good food.

The hotel was located very close to the main tourist attractions in the area. The rooms were comfortable and not too small. The staff was very helpful and provided recommendations on restaurants, transportation and tourism . We were satisfied.

Great location, great little hotel!

The hotel is within easy walking distance to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia, and Topkapi Palace. Also close to tram line that can take you to Grand Bazaar and to the Spice Market and across the Golden Horn. There are views of the Marmara and the Blue Mosque and wall of the Hippodrome. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful and the place is very cozy.

Shopping tip: Not Applicable

Don't take a taxi from the hotel. They will take you the long way around so as to charge you more. Walk to the tram - the Sultanahmet stop. It's a bit of a long walk but I did it quite easily even with bad knees. There is only one small uphill segment.
