Cozy family-owned hotel near Old City sites

Old City's attractions are in easy walking distance from this family-owned hotel. Located across the street from the Beyazit tram stop and a short walk from the Cankurtaran train station, all of Istanbul is within reach of the Niles' guests. The hotel's classic exterior looks far more elegant than guests typically expect of a 3-star hotel. Inside is a classic Turkish style, which provides warm comfort and wraps guests in a feeling of history. The hotel serves a complimentary breakfast on the rooftop Terrace Café.

Highlights

  • Terrace Café has stunning views of the sea and the city
  • Just steps from the Beyazit tram stop
  • Elegant exterior
  • Complimentary buffet breakfast

Rooms

The hotel has 29 guest rooms with private bathrooms. There are single and double rooms. The rooms are decorated simply. The color palette of pale yellow and red complements the wooden furniture. Suites and duplexes are also available. Both are good options for guests who need more space to work or who may be traveling with children or friends. All rooms have wireless Internet access (fees may apply) and air conditioning. All rooms are non-smoking.

Features

The Terrace Café -- with indoor and outdoor seating -- is Hotel Niles' best feature. The restaurant serves breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. every morning and, the rest of the day, a café menu.

The hotel is a short walk from attractions including the Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Habgia Sophia, and Topkapi Palace. There are several parks and green spaces close to the hotel.

Simple but simply perfect!

Perfect location not only for all the Sultanahmet must sees but also for the Grand Bazar and Spice Market. 5 minutes walk from the Tram station to reach Beyoglu in no time. The Hotel itself is simple but very comfortable with smal but very clean rooms. the staff is very friendly and helpful and the Terasse for breakfast and an good-night drink just fantastic. We can only recommend the Niles Hotel.

Great Value and Location for Old Town Istanbul

We spent six nights at the Nile in March 2013. They were just completing their renovations but this was not a problem for our fifth floor room. The rate was excellent to include a newly refurbished room with adequate toilet/shower. Bedding could be more comfortable. Breakfast room overlooking Sea of Mamarra was perfect as was their buffet and dinning room staff. Front desk staff could not have been more helpful and everything from Grand Bazaar to the main mosques and Galata bridge were walkable even for seniors The Niles is well maintained but some of its neighboring clothing outlets and shops need some sprucing up and streets/sidewalks need a good clean up.. Free web access was a bonus.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

The Grand Bazaar is a five minute walk (slight uphill climb) from the Nile Hotel. Merchants aim high with first prices but almost always settle for 40-50% off. Best to "bundle" items as the more you buy the more they discount. Polite "no thanks" and walking away usually produces their best and lowest offer. Carpets are akin to buying jewelry, if you are not an "expert" you really don't know what's a bargain and what's not. Merchants are friendly, generally not isulted by low ball offers, and will work with you with any currency you happen to have on you.

Great place to stay in Istanbul

Lovely, quaint hotel in the old town of Istanbul. The room we stayed in was fairly small but good value. Room cleaned each day and fresh towels. Breakfast was self service you could eat as much as you wanted and was of good quality. The staff could not have been more helpful. They were what made the experience of staying at the Niles Hotel so good! Would recommend.

Great short break in Istanbul.

Stayed in the junior suite, lovely large room, and spotlessly clean. Free WiFi was very handy. The bathroom was really nice. Lovely, friendly staff. Breakfast is not really worth getting up for, but the rooftop terrace is lovely, nice for a quiet beer in the evening. Other than breakfast very impressed with the hotel, the main sites are within 10 to 15 mins walk, and there are loads of great places to eat in the city. Airport transfer is a great service.

Excelent Service

A relatively small hotel, about 30 rooms at a perfect location to see all Istanbul historic places with relative ease. Staff was going out of their way to help out. Their pick-up and drop-off service from Ata Turk International Airport was timely with excellent service for 25 and 20 Euros respectively.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

1- Don't miss their pleasant Airport service at that price! 2- If you want American type/size coffee instead of small Turkish ones on the roof-top terrace, just ask and explain so they know what you want and they will find a way to please you.

Gem hotel in ancient Sultanahmet

Friendly, helpful staff in lovely, small, cozy, well appointed hotel just off the main street near the Grand Bazaar. It was just a couple of blocks from a tram stop but also an easy walk to the Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque and the Topkapi Palace. We loved the quaint lobby, the garden rooftop breakfast buffet/ night bar, and the little gym on the lower floor.

wonderfully helpful staff, very clean and comfortable

I had a terrific stay at Hotel Niles. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. Great breakfast spread included in the room price with stunning views from the roofdeck where breakfast is served. It was nice to have a place with AC to come back to for mid-day touring break (I was there in summer and it was warm) and it was very convenient to the Grand Bazaar and the tram station. Nice thing about the location was that it was on a street that is quiet but felt safe at night (i.e. no street noise to keep you awake). The only less convenient thing was that it was not as easy of a walk as I had thought to other sites in the Sultanahmet like Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, etc. so I found it better to take the tram 2 stops than to walk.
