The best staff an location in Istanbul!

We booked Sarnic Boutique Hotel based on location and the review we read. Polite staff, very polite staff, great staff... yeah, yeah, but you don/t believe till you see it. Hotel Manager welcomed us as we arrived, offered tea, coffee etc., introduced us with the sights, gave us map, chat about our trip and then he offered us a better, new furnisher room in Sarnic Premier Hotel, with no extra charges!!!! Who does that?!?! It was out of the blue! We weren't complaining, or there was a situation that they did something wrong so they were apologizing. Hotel is new, new bathrobes and slippers each day, as well as rahatlokums, good breakfast with lots of vegetables, Blue Mosque 1 min on foot, Hagia Sofia 4 min.... We were very satisfied and we hope one day... yes, we hope we will return...

You get less than what you pay for.

This hotel actually has two parts to it. I stayed in the newer section for 3 days (Thur-Sat ). Saturday's stay cost 31% more than the other days. The room was tiny and shower a tight fit. I'm only 5'3" and my feet hung off the bed. (I've never had that happen before.) Everything in the room was new and clean, but had a dorm room quality to it. I could actually smell the sewage exhaust seeping in from the bathroom drain holes. Nasty stuff. For the remainder of my stay in Istanbul I stayed at a cheaper and much nicer spot named Erguvan right down the street from Sarnic.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Its only 4 Turkish Lira to get here from the Airport. Take the metro (M1) from the Airport to Zeytinburnu. Then transfer to the tramvay (T1) to Sultanahmet. Then you are a 5-10 minute walk to many hotels and hostels down the hill past the hippodrom. Otherwise you are looking at paying ~85TL for a cab if traffic isn't too bad.
