Great Location and Great Housekeeping
The location of the hotel is perfect to walk Izmir and have a central home base. The housekeepers went above and beyond cleaning our room to folding our dirty laundry! Totally unexpected, but very much appreciated.

Crown Cafe up the street is a great place for breakfast - omeletes, regular American coffee, and great staff.

The Sojourner
OK Room but Nickel and Dimed
We had a large room with a great view of the harbor. Nice and comfortable, reasonably quite, so no complaints there. Also, a fairly good English speaking staff. But the room seemed a bit neglected with fixtures and wallpaper coming undone, and the toilet was plugged when we arrived. There was also a cigarette smoke draft coming in through the adjoining room's door, which isn't supposed to happen because it was a non-smoking floor. Our biggest gripe is we were forced to pay for wireless Internet in our room. This is pretty much free anymore as standard but here it's 30 liras per 24 hours. And buffet breakfast was not free. We paid 80 liras for a decent breakfast but not that great. When I asked reception about this they blamed the agent for not including breakfast. We were traveling with a large group of friends and we all concluded not to stay here again. Other friends stayed at a different nearby hotel and had a great experience for less than we paid.

There's a very good chinese restaurant just across the (side) street from the Hilton. English speaking staff.

Clean, great location
Great value in the off-season for this clean hotel (no bedbugs, though I have no idea if there are any bedbugs in Izmir anyway) with friendly staff and considerate housekeeping. However, consider that the value stops at the room rate. Everything else is extra, and at what we called "Hilton prices" rather than local pricing. For example (converted to approximate USD) $18 for internet (free at other hotels), $20 for breakfast (a few dollars at any restaurant), $7 for a beer in the lobby ($3 elsewhere). But overall, a pleasant stay.
