Reasonably priced Dubai hotel
The hotel has a nice, business-like feel. In most places it would be the lap of luxury, but Dubai is the land of ridiculous extravagance so it comes off as rather ordinary by comparison. The rooms are European style (Chic but small). The bar on the lobby level has nice entertainment each night and the location is pretty central. However, because of the lack of walkways to and from the hotel, you will need to take a cab to get anywhere you want to go.

Short drive from hotel
Gold Souk - a must see experience for a first time or repeat visitor to Dubai. You can't beat the selection and prices. Go in knowing the daily gold rate and negotiate from there based on the value added (i.e. is the item hand-made or machine made).
