Fair Price but Poor Managment Skills

My wife & I stayed at this Hotel for ~ four days in November 2010 at reasanable price.
We were surprised to find a 19 inch old style box TV in our room that had poor reception, flickering sound, and bad picture. We called the reception and repeated the problem three times to three various staff. We spoke fluent Arabic and/or English languages to Hotel staff as appropriate so Hotel staff understand the problem at hand.
We requested a plasma TV (if possible) with bigger & clear picture as it s the only entertainment for us in the room. We were not able to see the TV clearly from our bed because of the TV size. My wife eyes were tearing due to poor and shaky TV picture.
Management staff called to let us know that we can upgrade the room to a business class with a Plasma TV but we have to pay almost double the daily rate. We took that as an insult to our intelligent.
We then talked to the Manager and repeated the problem of having a poor TV receptions and picture quality TV. He said he will call back and ended up sending a technician with another same type TV with same problem. It appears that all old 19 inch TV's had same problems.
We gave up on pursuing the TV issue problem as we figured we are wasting our time. Hotel Management and staf knew what the problem is but don't want to do anything about it without extracting more money.
No one even bothered to follow up with our request and problem not even an oppologize or even make a courtasy move to make up for the problem we had to live with.
We think the current hotel managment leadrship is out of touch with it's customers. The problem is not only the poor TV size, type, and reception but how Hotel managment dealt with such a problem.
At this time this hotel should be 4 star hotel and not a 5 star hotel.
Finally, we must state that the swimming pools were nice.
Room cleaning was inconsistence and incomplete as they leave you a water bottle to drink and tooth paste one day and skipp it on other days.

We had a really bad experience at this hotel and checked out within 24 hours.
The rooms were filthy, antiquated and reeked of cigarette smoke.
The food was very poor - either a buffet or burgers and chips in the cafe.
Beach and swim pool was very nice but half of the water sport activities offered were not really available.
The hotel does not advertise or make it clear that it is a dry hotel i..e. no alcohol

The location is awful- in the middle of a rundown neighborhood. Most of the Hotel staff are unfriendly, specially the guys at the restaurent (breakfast.) No welcoming and warm attitude and sometimes you wonder if the managment ever provides any training to its employees- on guest services. It felt that the managemnt was running a boiler operation of generating cash and disregards anything else. Not ideal for business travellers. They charge absurd amounts for internet access that is so slow-512K speed- so slow.) Will not recommend for anyone other tahn someone who islooking for couple of nights good sleep at a relatively good price in teh Emirates (everything is expensive here compared to the west.)

Description
It is a new addition to the hospitality industry of sharjah. combined with a breathtaking view over the lake and the water jet, very suitable for families with children and traveller who would like to feel they are still at home.
RD 06/07 Nice modern 13 storey building, with a beautiful blue glass in the middle. It handy location in the heart of Sharjah which will enable the guest to reach the shopping area, Business Disctrict and Sharjah Airport.

Hotel is nice and very famous for entertaining football teams, it has a very attractive indoor swimming pool and gym. (RD05/08) Traditional one storey building. Hotel is beach overlooking building, next to a famous hotel called Beach hotel ,2 minuts drive from Al khan road,25 minuts drive to either Dubai city or Sharjah international airport. You need to cross the street to get to the shore on the opposite side .

This is a lovely hotel in relaxed surroundings. It is equipped with a large swimming pool and the guests have access to the hotel's own private beach. RD06/08 This is a low-rise, 2 storey modern building which is light yellow in colour. There is a small car park in front of the hotel. The hotel is located on the beachfront and just 3 kilometres from Sharjah city centre, where the famous Sharjah Souk offers an extensive shopping arcade. The hotel is close to the Exhibition Centre/ Expo and just 20 minutes' drive from Dubai city and airport and 15 minutes' drive to Sharjah Airport.

There is a good value property offering standard accommodation in an excellent location. (BL 02/03) This is a rather grand tall yellow brick building, impressive from the outside. It is conveniently located in the heart of the city on King Faisal Street, close to the Sharjah Central Souq and facing the marvelous King Khalid Lake and 15 minutes away from Sharjah and Dubai International Airport.

Very good hotel apartment suitable for families as well as business travellers with a good location and facilities RD04/08 Tall modern building with some glass decore from the front. Close to the city center in a nice quite residential area with a walking distance from the shopping area.

It took my wife and I a bit of time to convince the person behind the counter that we had booked a room through Orbitz. They finally found the booking and then had a guy go up and turn on the AC. When we got there, we found that it was a cramped up room that smelled like sweat and cigarettes. There were no towels; just a box of napkins! The water was barely coming in the shower. There was a bunch of buttons on the bedstand that apparently had no functionality. Worst of all, we opened the window only to find that we were looking into someone elses room in the building next door. Not being able to stand the room, we went out to eat (far far away since there are no good restaurants nearby). When we came back we were startled by the light and fan turning on and off by themselves (not joking, I'm completely serious!) So, believe it or not, we checked out that same night and went to a relatives to spend the night.

The main building is made from red brick stones with white accents. On the whole resort there are lots of palm trees and greenery. The resort is situated on the edge of Sharjah's Khalid Lagoon - a mere 20 minutes drive from Sharjah and Dubai airports. Five minutes walking from the hotel is the Sharjah souk(market)- a shopping arcade and the beautiful corniche.

The building in the Emirates is lagging horribly behind the massive building...and grid lock traffic has resulted. The trip from Dubai Airport took 1 hour 15 minutes. The resort is old (approximately 30 years) and dated, although well maintained.

Very nice property very suitable for families and even business travellers, with prime location 20 minutes from Dubai (off peak hours) and 7 minutes to the famous Sharjah expo trade fair ground. RD05/08 Nice and tall modern building. Khan road, at the entrance of Sharjah city, walking distance from the famous Qanat Al Qasba'a the latest tourism project in Sharjah city, over looking the Mamzar park and 10 minutes walk from Khaled Lagoon.

This is very nice hotel suitable for families and tourist within an easy reach to the sight seeing attraction and the public beach. RD 03/09 Modern 2 storey light colour building. This is very good hotel with a prime location within an easy reach to all the facilities in Sharjah city, also close to the well known car market in Sharjah.RD10/07. Modern light color building. Al Wahda Road, opposite the Gold Souk, with an easy reach to the famous Shopping center Mega Mall and 10 minutes from the city center, 20 minutes from Sharjah/ Dubai airports (off rush hours).

Very nice hotel well known in the European and Middle east markets with a fantastic rates and offers, it has one of the best and fine beach along with a nice swimming pool. RD06/08 New & modern building with a small garden from the front and tall palm trees. With fantastic location on one of the finest beach shores in Sharjah, Coral beach has a prime location 15 minutes to Sharjah airport, 30 minutes from Dubai(off rush hours) and 7 minutes to city tourists attractions.
