Did expect to be in a twin room however staff said twins were full and they gave us a 1st class double.
Bedlinen and towels are pure white.

Very good value for money for a hotel which is right in the centre of the city and only a couple of minutes walk from New Street train station. I did not have any meals at the hotel but there are plenty of coffee shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. Also very handy for department stores and shops.

Excellent location, Can be a bit Noisy at night due to local Clubs and restaurants but A breat Location anyway. Bed mattress a bit old and Saggy in the middle.....but all in all, a great value and Convenient to everything in Birmingham.......

It seems pretty new, a couple of things here and there but overall very nice in terms of cleanliness and comfert. Literally a 30 second walk from the door to (a very fancy) mall with lots and lots of restaurants and about 5-10 minute walk from the train station and a HUGE shopping area with indoor and outdoor malls. Staff was nice but not keen on answering my questions and had a hard time understanding the concept (and processing the reservation) that I had added a few more nights on to my original stay but not a big problem. As far as amenities there isnt much. Internet is good and there is a coffee shop in the lobby but thats about it.

Great value, look and service

I picked this hotel because i like a view with my room and a contemporary look and trendy feel - the hotel did not disappoint. With comfort in mind, I booked a business-class room with breakfast included.
Pros: Front Desk staff were extremely helpful - especially upon check-in. My airline had lost my luggage and they were very responsive in accommodating my needs until it arrived as well as alerting me in a timely manner when it arrived.
The hotel room had all the amenities I would look for in a typical hotel room including an iron, hangers, plenty of space for clothing, a chair and desk, flatscreen tv, bed, a clean and very nice sized bath room with toiletries plus coffee, tea and espresso.
The breakfast buffet served in the restaurant was a great mix of traditional English and Continental. There was no lack of variety and the food was fresh and often refilled. It was a professional yet casual set up with no fuss.
The location was great if you want access to central Birmingham with everything about 5-10 mins walking distance.
The housekeeping was thorough.
Cons: The furniture -although nice- looked a bit worn. There was obvious wearing on some of the woodwork that needed to be repaired but it did not inhibit use.
The gym was tiny and connected to the back of the spa. If you're looking for a large gym, you'll be disappointed but if you just want a quick workout on the machines or run on the treadmill - this will do and you'll have a great view too.
The pillows were a flimsier than what I'm used to and could've been replaced with higher-grade pillows. The bed was comfortable overall.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, although the hotel was clean the room smelt very musty and the layout was not very practical. The price of the room did not reflect the quality of the hotel. Not the worst hotel I've ever stayed in but I wouldn't recommend this hotel to a friend.

defies description. Was annoyed that the room had no telephone or hairdryer as stated. The tea/coffee in room was sparse and the room needed a good clean. However, for sheer value for money and quirkiness of the place it was great!! The eclectic style in the rooms is 'unique'! A cross match of victoriana, gothic, 30s influences.. The location is fantastic with good selection of eating places on the doorstep, city centre is 4 miles away costing £8 in taxi one way. Would stay again because of thebprice!

Staff members were friendly, and offered us help, guidance and directions at every opportunity. The rooms were clean and spotless. The views are not great, but the city centre location is excellent to explore central Birmingham from.
Unfortunately breakfast was not include in the price. They charged £5pp for continental and £7pp for traditional (English) breakfast. Despite the nice breakfast room, the breakfast food/service itself was quite poor compared to what you're paying for it. Definitely not 4-star service here.
Parking at nearby Holloway Car Park is £4 for 24 hours. Make sure you ask reception for a token to get the discounted price.

I was attending a conference at the ICC and found the Copthorne a great value. I opted for a superior room that came with breakfast and free internet. Very comfortable room, lovely staff, and clean, updated hotel. My room was a bit noisy with the traffic noise, but with the windows closed not too bad. One caution: no air conditioning, so would avoid in the summer.

Just over 1 mile from city centre, situated in the vicinity of Birmingham's best nightclubs and restaurants. The hotel is situated in leafy Edgbaston, offering luxurious surroundings and a friendly atmosphere.
Built in 1854, The Edgbaston Palace is now a revamped modern hotel offering a high standard of comfort and cleanliness. All rooms have en-suite facilities with flat screen colour televisions (with built in freeview), tea and coffee making facilities, iron & ironing board, hair dryer and direct dial telephones.
We have our own bar and restaurant, which serves freshly cooked food every evening from 5pm to 9.30pm. We also have a beautiful courtyard where you can sit and have a relaxing drink in the summer. Alternatively in the winter you can curl up to one of the real log fires.
The hotel is ideally located for those visiting the Birmingham NIA, ICC, Symphony Hall. Locally there are many other attractions from great night clubs to entertainment for families such as the Sealife centre. There are also a number of cinemas and a bowlplex in the vincinty. Other attractions include the famous Cadbury World and Botanical Gardens.

Whilst the hotel itself was quite ok, the reception staff was horribly unfriendly. Breakfast wasn't worth t.he extra spending. Many hotels along this strip of Birmingham road, so I'll not come back to this establishment.

We booked 2 rooms as a family. ON check in, we asked for rooms to be adjoining each other. Reception staff told us that wasn't possible, sorry no vacant rooms. Rooms were smelly - carpets couldn't be dirtier. We requested twin beds for one room, instead of double - no, that wasn't possible either. At breakfast, we were sat on two different tables although we requested if the two tables could be joined together. Overall, the attitude of the hotel is 'take-it-or-leave-it'

Nice hotel. Location is decent, very near Snow Hill train station, just at the top of the town. Staff were friendly. The room was a decent size, the bathroom included a bath and was kept clean. The heater was good and its controls functional. My room overlooked the street, so opening the window was a noisy option to cool the room.
So, the negative. My room was not cleaned and ready until 3pm, strange when check-in time was 2pm... Also, the cleaners seemed to have no set plan – sometimes my room would not be cleaned until very late in the day.
The Thistle Hotel is a nice hotel and reasonably located, but just a few little things let them down. But a good option for the price-range.

Stayed 2 nights in a club room. Room was nicely decorated and clean. Club lounge offered complimentary continental breakfast and free use of a internet connected computer. Watch out for the parking charges in the car park below the hotel. Overnight parking fee cost about 13-14 pounds.

Nice hotel, good size room with great temperature control (not so common in Europe). Very efficient check in. Good breakfast. My room was facing the main road so got noisy early in the morning. Nice firm bed (again hit or miss in many European hotels). Great location - very near the New Market St Train Stn near main shopping area. Try to get a room away from the main street and on a higher floor. Reasonable rates.

Good value for money. Basic accomodation would not want to pay full rates but near to station and the city without being noisy. The tv didn't work and the staff didn't seem bothered but I got what I paid for.

The Grand theatre is just next door so very easy access and quicker to pop back to the hotel bar than the theatre one during the break!
Hotel is fine and no complaints with any of the fittings. Staff helpful but appeared quite 'lost' at times even though the hotel was quiet.
Parking at the railway station is only 2 mins walk.
Overall very good though.

This place looks a little old and worn, it's been a hotel a long while before Ramada bought it. Some places smell of stale water and it was a long and strange trip from reception to our room. The bathroom had some grime and rust around some of the taps and shower fixtures.
There was WiFi only in the lounge and it was broken for a few days of our trip, the internet access in the room is slow, wired only, and expensive (£11.99 a night for our stay).
It was nice for us as it was close to family I was there visiting, however for anyone else there's not much to do directly in the area and if you're there to see Birmingham you're better off staying closer to city center. It's only a 15-20 minute train ride and 15 minute walk away though if you feel so inclined while staying here.
The staff were helpful and friendly, and the leisure center was nice to have. They also did fireworks in the parking lot for New Year's which was a nice touch.

This hotel appears to have been here for years and is in need of both remodeling and upgrading. It is clean but tired. The need either a full time plumber or replacement of most of the toilet fixtures, not only in the guest rooms but also in the common areas. The waste pipes moaned in the building where we stayed and the tanks dripped until they refilled. We were told it was because of water restrictions from a drought, but having been in several residences, in other hotels and in other public bathrooms, this is the only place that we observed this problem. The hotel also lacks ventilation ducts, meaning there is no way to vent a bathroom.
The staff was extremely helpful, most attentive, and very cheerful.

Good value for money, the room had everything you would need for a short weekend break. Parts of the hotel need a bit of TLC and the decor is a bit dated, the room itself was comfortable. For the price, no complaints.

Aside from the start where none of us could get into the three rooms we had booked, this was quickly sorted, and there is only one small lift, I would say that the hotel was very clean, friendly and the bar well appointed. It is not a big hotel but with 7 floors it could have done with another lift. The breakfast in the morning was somewhat limited sausae, beans, scrambled eggs. Fruit consisted of grapefruit. There was other food available but given we were going to have a long day at the gadget show we had wanted a it more. The staff were very friendly and also very helpful. The hotel was very clean and well positioned for the NEC (10 mins max). Only frustation was you had to go round the back and onto some back streets to get into the direction of traffic flow that allows a left turn into the parking area.

When we arrived the receptionist was not helpful at all. She spoke to us as a bare minimum, didn't tell us how to get to our room and when we asked about were breakfast was etc she just pointed her finger in the direction.
The hotel was in need of a total refurbishment.
The room was ok, but the cups hadn't been washed out etc.
I would not return to this hotel.

Nice recent refurbishment, responsive staff, quiet room, all I could have asked for except...I paid for the broadband "special" to be able to use in-room internet and have unlimited movies, but the the movies never worked, and the staff were helpless in trying to address the problem during my entire stay. Really surprised that the hotel would be unable to come up with a fix but I must say the staff were very apologetic.

The hotel was being refurbished on the ground floor when we were there. The room was excellent, very good bed. We had wired internet, but it was too slow for proper video chat, that was disappointing. The restaurant/bar was nice. The location was on Broad St, which is a bit dodgy, but you can walk to the canals and city centre easily, and it's close to the train station. All the staff were friendly and helpful - one of them even brought me up some breakfast when I slept in and missed it (my colleague made it)!

Great hotel really enjoyed our stay there. Not very good night life only two bars a short walk away, hotel bar very expensive, godd breakfast self serve.Merry hill shopping centre just down the road with Cinema. Recommended for couples who want a quite break with abit of shopping. Would stay somewhere with abit more night life net time, but would stay here again.

Very nice hotel. You get what you pay for with this hotel. The biggest advantage was not to have the stress of getting to the airport on the last day of the trip. Everything is in line with what is expected from the premium brand of this hotel chain. Only improvements I would say need to be done is to have more signs showing where the entrance to the hotel is inside the airport.

Stayed here on my wedding night ready for an early flight in the morning, so it was a fleeting visit but a pleasant one. Small room but perfectly adequate and facilities & styling were good. Quiet. Directly opposite departures and walkable to hire cars. Recommended.

We stayed here to go to a party. Hotel was clean and all staff very helpful. We used room service , whilst the person who delivered this was very polite and helpful, the food was average. Breakfast disappointment , bad coffee and breakfast buffet had quite a few items missing. There was a mini bar but it had nothing in it. Positive notes we had a really comfortable bed so had a great nights sleep. We stayed in a superior room so it was an average size with a seating. I would stay again and eat elsewhere.
