Weekend in Wolverhampton
This was very much a last minute booking and I got it at a bargain price. The check-in staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient (as indeed were all members of staff that I encountered). My room was on the second floor, at the front of the building. The room was well equipped. My only criticism would be that the carpet looked a bit grubby. The bed was comfortable, with spare blankets and pillows available. My one major criticism would be of the intrusive noise levels. There is a bar / disco across the road and the revelry each night (Friday and Saturday) went on until the early hours of the morning. I was surprised that the windows weren't double-glazed, not for warmth but for soundproofing. Other than that my stay was very enjoyable and I would certainly use this hotel again.

Cheap but not so Cheerful
Convieniently located they provide parking in a nearby multistory for £5 a day - this is where the positives end. My single room was cold and with paper thin walls I could hear people getting in and out of the lift every night. The ariel on my 10 year old TV was held to the wall socket with duct tape so I could only pick up a hazy ITV2 after twenty minutes of jiggling the socket. I didn't even want to watch ITV2. The water was warm and the bed adequate, and there was tea and coffee within the room. I didn't have much to do with the staff but they seemed pleasant enough when checking in/out. WiFi is also only available from the downstairs lobby, which is exposed to cold and passers by. I suppose I shouldn't complain too much as the hotel price is almost half that of the nearest competitor, but I did feel they could have just made a few tweaks to make the stay a more enjoyable one.

Never again
Will never stay there again, awful night. Had to mvoe rooms at 2.15am due to noise from a night club opposite. Was then put into a room that was a smoking room and smelt of smoke, was given a spray bottle to spray if we couldn't stand the smell. Woke by noise again at 6.00am from some boiler/air con ducting or something. Left hotel at 7.30am totally ruined our week end.

Uncomfortable night with not much sleep!
I stayed overnight for one night, which was more than enough. It may look presentable from the outside , but the room was shabby and dated. Worst of all, the mattress was absolutely ancient and I felt every coil. If I moved, the mattress would rock to the point I felt that I was about to fall out. My room was overlooking the back of a row of shops and restaurants. That's okay, but one of the restaurants had a noisy generator which hummed half of the night and as a result, I didn't get much sleep!

Theatre break
The Grand theatre is just next door so very easy access and quicker to pop back to the hotel bar than the theatre one during the break! Hotel is fine and no complaints with any of the fittings. Staff helpful but appeared quite 'lost' at times even though the hotel was quiet. Parking at the railway station is only 2 mins walk. Overall very good though.

Good value
Good value for money. Basic accomodation would not want to pay full rates but near to station and the city without being noisy. The tv didn't work and the staff didn't seem bothered but I got what I paid for.

Staff Helpful, Floor Squeaks As You Walk in the Room or Corridor, Carpets and Bath Tubs are old, Sheets and Towels are Clean, Side rooms have no clear view outside, Elevator definitely needs urgent replacement, Location is just accross the Wolverhampton Train Station. Great for access

Great Location Old Hotel Floor Squeaks
Very convenient superb location. Just accross Wolverhamton train station (approx. 100 meters. Access to Birmingham New Street or International is around 30 or 35 minutes by train. Building is very old. As you walk in the room, you produce squeaking sound. If someone passes by the corridor, you hear aqueaking sounds. Price was good even at expo time.
