Reminds me of College

As the arrangements were made for me, I wasn't sure what to expect. The conference center itself was good - food available inside, a lounge for watching football or having a drink, and near to town. However, the surround city was not the best. Construction/renovation is going on - so I'm sure the area will be up and coming soon. The rooms were a great deal for the price, but a bit on the small side. More like a dorm room than a hotel. But if that is what you needed (a bed, a shower, a desk, wireless internet) - it was excellent. Always clean, and nicely supplied with towels (extra large!), soaps, tea, biscuits, etc. I would recommend this - more for the younger crowd, and not as a romantic get-a-way to Birmingham, UK.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Fish-n-chips or battered sausages are the best at Johnny's Fish-N-Chips Bar on Corporate Street. Just a short walk.

Excellent value - but train your staff

Book a superior room - it's worth is and still very cheap often. Breakfast is very average, wouldn't pay for it but rather go to one of the nearby eateries - actually inside the univeristy building (hotel is on Aston University campus) English breakfast is served at a much more reasonable rate and less stale. Free use of university pool and gym across the road is great. Free wifi everywhere. Very quiet during the night, as the road is a cul-de-sac. Staff friendliness and service attitude is largely very mediocre, I've doubts that the staff employed has actually been trained in a hotel. This is something Aston should look at. Overall I recommend this place.

Daughter's Graduation

We needed a hotel close to Aston University and this was a perfect location. Hotel is comfortable and the staff were very helpful and attentive. We had two rooms - one was more modern than the other but both were comfortable. Overall we were very pleased with our stay.

Awesome Time

Booked this venue due to the location and cost and was completely blown away by it ! From the minute we actually arrived it was apparent that it was the best choice ! From the welcome from the team, to the condition and facilities in the room, plus it's location. All in all contributed to a brilliant time. The beds were comfy, the temp in the room was great, the bathroom was state of the art. Even the tea making facilities surpassed expectations. Thank you for a wonderful time. Will definitely be back

Really good, especially given the price

Stayed in superior room. Would not recommend to book "classic room" -those ar enot refurbished yet. the extra cash for Standard or Superior category is worth it. Location is about 10mins walk from Bham city centre, walk is a long a road busy with pedestrians most times of the day due to number of students living nearby (we didn't hear anything from them at night). The hotel features a nice lounge with free tea/coffee, but also a bar with very reasonable prices. Whilst some staff are really great, some staff are a bit confused though, potential for some training there. Breakfast is fine, nothing special.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Annexe, an excellent French restaurant (and owned by one, you're most likely to meet him when eating there) is across the the road, no more than 3-4mins walk, just on Corporation St. . Opposite of it there is also a 24h corner shop for essentials.
