Thought it was a lovely hotel

Thought it was a lovely hotel in great location within walking distance of large selection of pubs and restaurants and great price. Room was lovely and staff were very friendly, Rachel on reception was extremly welcoming and friendly on our arrival. It was alot more modern than I expected especially with the Imacs in the room. Didn't have the breakfast as it wasn't included in our deal but the City cafe looked lovely from passing through. We went to a little cafe a few mins walk away called cafe Rouge who did a nice breakfast so would recomend that if you're not gettign breakfast on the hotel.

Had a few issues here for my week

Had a few issues here for my week long business trip, checked in on monday, key failed to work tuesday evening, was told at reception that this was unusual, happened wednesday and thursday evening as well. Internet was very slow every evening, rang reception two evenings regarding problems with the internet, was told that somebody would get back to me, never did. Fire alarm in my room went off at 2.30 on my last night, went off again at 02.50. I couldn't get back to sleep so on my last night I slept until 02.30, not ideal seeing as I had 8 hours of exams on my final day in Birmingham. It's a pity that after forking out £4000 for my week long education course that I was given this handicap to complete my exams. Never once was I given an apology. A disgrace. If I do happen to fail my exams and have to return for a repeat I'll be looking elsewhere.

I would recommend this hotel for

I would recommend this hotel for its location to the NIA and the canal area around the conference area. Breakfast was good. The rooms are decorated adequately, a shower rather than a bath, which suited me. The air-con was a bit lacklustre; however the telly was good with a connected computer. I did not use the gym.

PEACE AND QUIET

The hotel was full but secure car parking underneath was available, the breakfasts were cooked to order and the room was very quiet. The iMac enertainment centre is a good idea but the interface was somewhat clunky. WiFi was a bit variable.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Try the Syriana Resturant. Absolutely tremendous in a rather unkempt area of the city but friendly staff and glorious food
