Rough Start - Fantastic Finish

We checked in to the hotel a little late after notifying them to hold our room. We had reserved a double but found that we had been given two singles in quite a small room. When we called to inquire about a change, we were informed that the hotel was full and to inquire in the morning. We then discovered that there was a major dance party going on and it sounded as though the DJ was playing the music in our bath. The music was good, but lasted until after midnight and interfered with our jet-lagged sleep. We called to complain and were assured that we woud be given a better room. Since we had an unalterable reservation and had decided to leave the city a day earlier than initially planned, we asked for an upgrade. We were told that we would be moved into an upgraded room the next morning, all we needed to do was to pack and they would facilitate the move while we toured the city. Upon our return, the staff had made good on their promise. We expected to be given a standard double room on a floor more removed from the ballrooms. We were given a double suite with all the amenities. We were extremely pleased. It helped us to be able to easily accomodate visitors and we had no more problem with ballroom noise. We could not have been more pleased with the rest of our stay. Staff was very responsive to our needs.

Perfect location

This hotel is right in the heart of all the action, theatre, waterfront, shops & Clifton suspension bridge is only a 5 minute drive away. Rooms were comfortable & clean, the only fault was that the heating was well below par. The room was really cold on checking in and after complaining I was told it would get warmer during the night. On arrival back at the hotel at 11pm, the room was freezing, it felt like a window had been left open, the bathroom was cold and it sort of took the edge of the stay, I would consider staying there again but only in the Summer!

Great location, shame about the service.

This was our 2nd stay here. Last time we were checked in a little early, given a free extended check out & offered a good price upgrade. This time the staff were a little rude and unhelpful. The location is great and the pool is lovely, but we won't be returning as we have received much better service in other hotels in Bristol.

Linen should not have blood stains!

the hotel is not bad, the staff is ok, but unfortunately, very unfortunately the bed linen had 2 blood stains.....dusty velvet pillows on the bed that shouldn't be there, and still that very dirty English carpet every where. Pillows should be only pillows with clean linen, not dusty heavy velvet armchair ones, that are full of dust, like the carpet.

The hotel had a modern but cosy

The hotel had a modern but cosy feel. Good location and price though I find parking costs in central hotels are always a bit pricey. We managed to find a road a few mins walk away which was free.

Excellent city centre location.

Excellent city centre location. Lots of character although room was a bit small but being an old Victorian building means that all rooms are not going to be the uniform boxes of a modern hotel. Would use again
