It is good value for money

The room was warm, clean, good large double bed, although I asked for a single standard. For the location, for the fact that you get free wifi in the room, for the fact that you get breakfast included in the price of the room I would recommend the location as it is good value for the money paid.

Central location for any Cardiff events

Booked into the hotel, staff from beginning to checking out, friendly and helpful. Ideal location for any events in Cardiff, parking, had to use NCP car park opposite the Millenium stadium, but half price when using this hotel, bargin. Only draw back on the night we stayed, disco till 5-30 in the morning, but no big deal.

Centre of Town

Heading to a reunion, I wanted a bed for the night right in the centre of town for a reasonable price The Sandringham delivered. A no nonsense place with friendly staff. Room upgrade given without prompting. Music venue (Blues Band when I was there - discount for guests) downstairs - no disturbance. A bit on the dated side but clean and functional. Wifi. I'd avoid it if climbing stairs is a problem. No parking, but this is the trade-off for being right in the centre (as are the crowds).

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The Central Station Car Park off Penarth Road is the cheapest (official) 24-hours stay in the centre. Failing that, Sofia Gardens Car Park off Cathedral Road is probably the next cheapest/closest

Good value, though not perfect

Overall, I liked my stay here. I booked a single room but ended up with a nice, big double which has its own good-sized bathroom. It was all very clean and reasonably quiet, and the location is excellent, really close to Cardiff Central Station, not a far walk from Cardiff Castle, and in the midst of many restaurants and shops. The breakfast is yummy, too. The cons: supposedly there's free wi-fi throughout the hotel, but my hotel room was at the end of the hall and I got no reception whatsoever. If I walked a few rooms down or to the lobby I could usually get a decent signal, but it was awkward and inconvenient to not be able to be in my own room. Also, maybe it's just me but I found the beds hard and super uncomfortable. I was glad I had two beds, because this allowed me to sleep on top of one duvet and use the other as a blanket.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Visit Cardiff Castle, which is huge and old and not too far away. And I highly recommend taking the bus down to the bay, which is absolutely beautiful.

Best value for money

I would recommend it to a friend. It was more than expected when I saw my room. Good room size, good service and very helpful and friendly staffs. Could hear movement when people walking and talking on the stairs, corridor and from the next room snoring! Poor floor and wall noise insulation. Otherwise it was a nice hotel to stay. No regrets.

Central Cardiff on a budget

Short distance to Cardiff Castle, shopping, restaurants, night life and the train station. Central neighborhood can be noisy at night. Staff was helpful. The hotel was clean but hasn't been updated for a long time. My single room was tiny, barely room to turn around. The mattress was thin and lumpy. Good English breakfast. Definitely a budget stay if you aren't looking for much.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Lots of local nightlife right outside the hotel, no need to go very far for food, drinks or music.
