Mollington is the name of this village near Chester & Robert Banastre was given it by Edward I in the 12th century. The present manor house was built in 1853 and it is stunning, real luxury at one of the finest Chester hotels. There are a couple of four posters and some super deluxe bedrooms if you're splashing out. More splashing out is available in the indoor swimming pool. Then there's a first class sauna, a proper spa and a well equipped gym. Which should leave you with a great appetite and you can pacify that in the formal Garden Room restaurant or the Brasserie in the club itself.

The Good and the Bad

We attended the hotel and stayed for 2 nights as a family member were holding their weding reception there. The hotel itself is fairly nice but is severely let down by the rooms. The rooms were quite dated and in need of a refurbishment. One of the rooms smelt strongly of sick and had clear signs of water leakage from the radiator. Another room was fairly small in comparison to others and had no curtains at the windows so that you could clearly be seen using the bathroom by other Guests looking out of their bathroom. We did request another room and were moved without an issue. The carpets in all areas that I visited were in need of a good clean as they appeared quite dirty and very worn in places. Be aware that some rooms are also located over the function room and that it becomes very noisy from the disco. One point to also mention is that if you mention that you are part of a wedding party, the prices for things like the breakfast increases from £6.50 to £15 which I felt was excessive and unfair. Good points....the staff were friendly and the dining areas and grounds were well maintained and welcoming. We did not make use of any of the gym or spa facilities so cannot pass comment. The hotel is close to nearby restaurants so you do not have to eat at the hotel if you wish to explore slightly.
