This is without doubt the most elegant and unique city centre hotel in Chester and one of the finest hotels in the North West. The Grosvenor Spa is at the heart of it all and there are 5 luxury treatment rooms, relaxation area, steam room, herb sauna, ice fountain, foot spa, themed shower, salt grotto, a make up and manicure station and a fitness centre for residents. (GW 05/2008) The hotel was originally opened in 1865 and is now a Grade 2 listed building of historic and architectural interest. The exterior is an immensely distinctive black and white timbered facade. This very much belies the modern elegance of the hotel interior. The hotel is owned by the Duke and Duchess of Westminster. It is located within Chester's City Walls and next to the ancient East Gate with its famous and distinctive clock tower. It is within 2 minutes walk of the medieval galleried streets known as 'The Rows'.
