Great apartment in a great location.

Executive 2-bed apartment on 4th floor overlooking garden. A spacious, well laid out apartment with two double bedrooms and separate living room, kitchen and bathroom. Well decorated and clean. Beds and bedding are excellent and the curtains provide almost complete darkness (if you need a daytime nap!). Kitchen includes all the essentials and was stocked with a nice welcome breakfast pack, plus a selection of various teas and coffee. Bathroom is supplied with toiletries and good towels. This rear-facing apartment wa very quiet, even during the day. Just a 5 minute walk from Princes Street, it's very close to both train (Waverley) and bus stations and the nearest tram stop is around 100m from the front door. There are a number of supermarket chain stores within a 10 minute walk, so restocking the fridge is no problem. It's central location makes it a great base for exploring Edinburgh.

Great location

We booked the Penthouse apartment for the Marathon weekend in Edinburgh. It was a fantastic location, close to the train station and close to the start of the race with lots of restaurants nearby. Very pleased with the apartment, it was very spacious, clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The only downside was the noise at night from the street below. As the apartment is centrally located on a busy street there can be some noise if you are sleeping in the front bedroom. However, If we are ever in Edinburgh again we would definitely choose this apartment.

Good but needs attention to detail

We were luck enough to have one of the newly fitted out rooms, we were very impressed. Great location, friendly staff who were very happy to help, and find someone who knew the answer if they didnt. Only gripes about the place would have to be the mismatch of utensils in the kitchen and how creaky the floorboards can be in some areas. The central heating was really good, except for the times wehn it would revert back to 14degrees and freeze us during the night. I dont think it was their fault, I think tha previous guests had played with the controller. In all we were quite impressed.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Parking is a nightmare, the cheapest place to park is the St James Centre NCP, but at 15 pounds a day, its very costly. On the weekend try parking on a single yellow line to avoid the high cost.

Perfect Break

We have stayed in quite a few hotels but this is best so far. loved the apartment with two teenagers was great to come back and chill in home from home , with space to properly relax unlike the confines of a hotel room. The staff were very helpful and friendly nothing was a problem for them. The location was great five min walk from all the main amenities and yet a nice quiet location

Excellent choice

Perfect if you're looking for a central location, which is also quiet as well as convenient. Have never stayed in an aparthotel before so the concept of having a kitchen/dining area in our bedroom was new to us - however a very effective way of staying in the city centre allowing you the choice of eating out or staying in. Very clean and comfortable; the staff helpful and courteous; we had a garden room (102) which we would recommend.

Great location, Spacious rooms, but...

The Blue Rainbow Aparthotel in Edinburgh is a converted apartment house. Its kitchen/dining/living area is separate from the bedroom. It is perfect if you want to invite co-workers over discuss work, eat or watch TV. It is big enough for a small meeting. The hotel is centrally located, the train station and shopping are only a short walk away. The price is on-par with traditional hotel rooms in the same area. I would caution about making reservations at this hotel if your plans are not firm. The hotel has a 100% cancellation charge policy. You should inform your boss about this policy. Even if you cancel weeks in advance, you will be charged, and cannot apply the funds to other hotel nights or services. The facility is old, and things break. During my stay the elevator, TV and Internet broke, and took days to be fixed. My reaction to the staff was mixed. We took a side trip to Inverness, during which they stored my wife's insulin in the fridge. On the other hand, the staff have been to told to never remove a charge from a customer's bill. So while the staff giving us updates on when things would be fixed, they were also telling us that we would have to talk with a manager to get charges for the Internet (a separate charge) from our bill. Eventually cooler heads prevailed. Taken as a whole, I would recommend this hotel. It is particularly nice if you need room to discuss work with co-workers, or just would like to have an intimate, breakfast with your spouse.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

The hotel is less than 1 mile from Waverly Station, buses, and shopping. The only time we needed a taxi was when we had luggage.
