Just what you need

Checking into the hotel was seamless and easy. The hotel staff was attentive and knew me by name right away. The hotel room was clean but on the smaller side. IF you have more than two or three bags, you'll have little room to maneuver around. Not all rooms are the same size though. The bathroom was excellent, the shower was refreshing and it was not cramped at all. The hotel staff was helpful in arranging local travel and day trips. Checking out was easy.

Don't bother with the city bus tour. Edinburgh is not a big city, and walking is almost as fast around the city and free.

Ideal hotel for a weekend break

Great hotel well situated near all the Edinburgh attractions with a fantastic restaurant with amazing food. Only gripe was the small double bed.

Not as upmarket as they think they are

The hotel is in a cheap nasty part of Edinburgh and has delusions of being much more upmarket than it is. The room was described as having a double bed, but the room was too small for a double bed so they just squeezed in a 4 foot bed (double is 4 foot six) which made it cramped. The restaurant was clean enough but had very limited menu. For example the hotel special was a beef burger. For desert I chose the "Selection of Scottish Cheese" which turned out to be Red Leicester, Cheddar and Brie, none of which can remotely be described as "Scottish". Overall I'd say the hotel is mediocre at best and I was glad we only stayed one night.

Great Location, Amazing Staff!

Our room was comfortable and clean. Our flight left too early for the complimentary breakfast, but every member of staff we encountered was friendly, informative and extremely helpful. That, plus the charming hotel and central location would be enough to bring me back. My one and only complaint (and it's a minor one) is that there was no mini fridge in the room. I understand why, because the rooms are equipped with a conservation feature that turns everything off when you leave the room, so it would compromise those efforts. The staff was great about getting us an ice bucket for our water bottles, so it's all good.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

In Edinburgh it's all about the footwear. The hilly terrain (great views!) means a good walking workout. Wear your most comfortable shoes. Hills and stairs abound. But if you're prepared, it is well worth the hike.

Good for short stay

Nice hotel in a good location for Edinburgh castle and old town. About 10 mins walk to the castle. Recommend the full breakfast which is good value when ordered through e bookers. Staff proved very helpful. All in all good value.

Ok hotel

First room we were given was large, but had stained carpets. I asked for a new room to be given, but the new room was much smaller than the first, and we decided to keep the original room. Besides the stained carpet, room was ample, bathroom was modern, and the room provided a modern television and coffee making capabilities. We had breakfast at the hotel, which was 8GBP, which we thought was kind of pricey, but average overall in quality. It had both a cold section, and a hot section of items that were made to order. The location of the hotel is excellent, as it is within walking distance of the Edinburgh castle and a number of attractions. The staff is helpful and polite as well. There is a parking area that is small, first come first serve which we did not use, but others seem to have. Overall, I think it's an ok option. It's an old maternity ward, which has been converted into a hotel. While the staff is very nice, the hotel itself could certainly use some updates.

Great and comfortable place

Very nice hotel in historic bulding. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is very good. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is good if you like walking a lot and up and downhill. It is very close to the Royal Mile and the Castle, but returning after a long busy day can be better done in a taxi.
