No Air conditioning for Days
If this is really a four star hotel, I'm shocked. Upon asking for the air conditioning to be fixed, I was told it wasn't working for most of the rooms. My last day I spoke with the GM on duty. She didn't seem too concerned about the lack of air conditioning.

Great expectations, nothing special
Very good location right off the Royal Mile. The rest was only promises. I was offered free newspaper in the morning. It never came. The drainage of the bathroom sink was blocked. The command of the air conditioning wasn't working. Nobody told me that I have to pay for the breakfast - quite expensive at £17.50. So it's mostly disappointing.

Short City Break
The hotel is a short walk from the centre of the Old Town of Edinburgh, and a cut through next to the hotel takes you straight up to the Royal Mile in a couple of minutes. There is also a bus stop outside the front door, with buses every 20 minutes or so to the New Town and also on to Leith, for the Britannia (the bus service is excellent and great value). We visited all the usual sights but the main reason we chose Edinburgh was to sample a couple of the amazing restaurants out in Leith - truly a gourmet paradise!! The room was as you would expect for a four star hotel, and the staff were welcoming and kind. We arrived a little early but were able to go straight to our room, and were able to leave our bags after checking out while we made the most of our final day. Every request was cheerfully met and I had the impression that nothing would be too much trouble. This hotel is ideal if you prefer a quieter area and are prepared to walk a little. Edinburgh itself is beautiful and well worth a visit, we will definitely visit again

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
Try the lunch menus at any of the Michelin star restaurants in Edinburgh itself, or in Leith. You will have a fantastic dining experience and probably spend about the same as you would eating in the evening in a pub/restaurant. (Avoid the wine if you're on a tight budget though!)

Fantastic!
I stayed at this hotel because I was participating in a race within walking distance (Holyrood Park). Upon arrival, the staff welcomed me with positive energy and smiles, accommodated me swiftly without any delay and were extremely friendly when I inquired any information from transportation to the airport to assistance with a personal matter. This is a highly recommended hotel and located close to a grocery store, restaurants, and is central to the town.

Excellent hotel, superb service and custoemr service
Having returned from a 2 night stay I must highly recommed this hotel. From arrival to departure the staff made you feel so welcome and couldnt do enough for you. The bedrooms were large and spotless as were all the public areas. We used the pool which again was spotless. Great location, few minutes walk to The Royal Mile and shopping. Would definately stay here again.

This hotel is a gem.
This was a lovely hotel. The room was upscale and fresh. Great air conditioning, view, furnishings, lobby. Reception staff and information desk were most helpful. Would go back here in a second!
