PLEASE REFURBISH QUICKLY

Reception, bar and restaurant okay and look to have been updated recently. But the hallways and rooms in desperate need of redecoration and threadbare carpets to be replaced. Same with the twin bedded room we had on the 3rd floor and what can only be described as a 60's-70's style bathroom - though not sure the tiles would have been in fashion then! Staff though were very pleasant and helpful.

The website gives you not the right information

I was at room 216. The most stupid room, i have been in my life. Dirty, old, little and no fresh air. The window couldn t open. Only the bar & restaurant are ok in this hotel. All the rest is very bad. I booked this hotel because the rooms looks nice, it was complete the opposite. Saturday morning 04.00 o clock, big fire alarm in the whole building. Everybody was out of his rooms. Nobody came to tell what was going on.. Also the next day, nobody could explain wat was going on. So don t book this stupid dirty hotel!

birthday break

Hotel situated right in the centre close to all the must see attractions. Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, bar staff were attentive and make a great cocktail. Room was average, stayed in a refurbished room however it didn't seem quite finished- sticker on the door with room number, bathroom door was not the right size so did not close, not all switches worked!. Refurbished corridors had dusty workman footprints. Room was serviced each day but wooden floor didn't seem clean, toilet roll not replenished, housekeeping bin bags left in room along with a random dirty towel- not ours. Would recommend the hotel for its location, but would only return once refurb is complete.

Disappointing

THe only positive thing I can say about this hotel is that it is in a perfect location. When booking it was advertised as a recently renovated room. This is not what we received. Room was of a very poor standard and was very small. Bed wa uncomfortable, windows were filthy, bathroom was awful. For €100 just bed no breakfast I found it very expensive for what we got.

It's in a great location and easy route to all that Edinburgh can offer. The view from my room window was out of this world.

Convenient Location

The hotel facilities were fine but aging with a couple of exceptions. Due to the fact that several restaurants/clubs are located on or near the hotel and there is only one elevator, you will probably have to travel via the stairs on most trips to your room. In addition, it was more than a bit disconcerting to find a sign opposite the bathroom sink that said that the water was not drinkable. Fortunately, the hotel did provide a bottle of water each day.

location

The only negative part of my stay was my having to wait until 3 pm to occupy my room. I am perfectly aware of the fact that it is the custom throughout Britain. I believe noon would be a reasonable hour, to accommodate all those travellers who arrive in the morning.

Tired old hotel in great location

My room faced onto the street opposite railway station on Princes Street. The old windows are single glazing. Very very noisy. Until 5am each morning after the night club goers caught the night bus service home from stop right outside my window. Investment in refurbishment has started in the hotel but long way to go. The corridor outside my room (number 115) smelt fusty and musty. Wouldn't recommend even at bargain basement rates.
