A good choice

A very personable hotel in very central Glasgow. I felt very comfortable and well cared-for at the hotel over 3 nights. Nothing lavish here, but the hotel offered a solid stay - good room, clean shower, and all of the in-room do-dads desired. I especially liked the antique "cage" elevator. The only knock that I could come up with is that the shower water flow was below average.

About 3 doors down from the hotel is an excellent Italian bistro, Sarti's.

Perfect location

The Abode was all that we had anticipated. Perfect location for walking to all the Charles Rennie Mackintosh buildings and galleries. 2 mins walk from Sauchihall street and the Willow Tea Rooms. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. When we had a slight problem with the safe in the room the manager insisted we move straight away to a better room. A great experience.

Would stay again.

The most comfortable bed in Scotland! Great location, near Style Mile. A bit loud in evening, but that didn't bother us. Shower was good - strong pressure. We'd stay again. PS restaurant closed.

Good location and food, but that's about it

Abode is in a perfect spot in the city-- within 30 min walk of anything (including the subway and train). The decor is very nice, and the old elevator is quite unique. However, the room we had was VERY small (no drawers for clothes, no shelves, small closet alcove) and the TV only had 8 channels (not too much of a problem since we weren't in the hotel much, but still would have liked to watch more than sports or game shows). The restaurant/bar is AMAZING!!! The staff are fun, extremely knowledgeable, and make amazing drinks! But they are aiming to close down the place due to lack of customers, which is a terrible shame. I will likely stay somewhere else, but will definitely visit the restaurant/bar if it stays open.

Convenient and satisfying

Spent 3 nights in 2 different stays flying in and out of Glasgow in August 2011. Excellent location within short walk of both train stations and shopping areas. As for a quiet room if important to you -- as others have noted, rooms in front (eg 219) pick up street noise when bars close. Restaurant was pleasant suprise. Fine dining Michael Caine has closed but some staff have stayed on for the casual menu. Had a prix fixe 10 pound 2-course dinner including perfectly prepared salmon.

Good, but . .

We stayed at Abode on vacation. The location is great for accessing the city. Our room was small but adequate. However, we were on the third floor facing the street and even at that height the street noise was very bad. Three car alarms in one night! A friend had a room on the first floor street side and got little sleep the three nights we were there. The staff is nice and helpful, but try to get a room on an upper floor at the back.

Abode Glasgow

The staff was most courteous and helpful. I liked the location. I stayed in this hotel last summer 2009 and again found the quality of the accommodations and staff excellent. I liked that Sarti's restaurand was next door.
