Convenient Access to Western Glasgow

Excellent Indian restaurant on this property. Convenient access to Scottish Exhibition & Conference Center, Kelvingrove Gallery & Museum, Glasgow University and other locations in western Glasgow. Must try the Sisters restaurant across the street. Staff leaves a lot to be desired. Room quite ordinary, but reasonable comfortable for a short stay. The horrid Scottish weather probably negatively influenced my whole attitude about this stay.

Great price for that last-minute weekend getaway

I thought that what I paid for this hotel was shockingly low for a major city. The hotel is perfectly located for exploring Kelvingrove and the University of Glasgow museums and art galleries, and nearby dining options abound. It's a short taxi ride away from the Central and Queen Street stations. My room was tiny and needed some repairs (it looked like the attempts to repair flaws in the wall had been abandoned mid-way), but other than that it was perfectly suitable for a long weekend of exploring Glasgow. The staff was friendly and helpful, and promptly made sure that I could get a good night of sleep when I called at 1 am to complain about a neighboring room blasting loud music, heavy on the bass. When a taxi returned my lost wallet to reception after I had left the country, the hotel staff offered to mail it to me in Sweden. On the other hand, be prepared to do without amenities like room service food after 10 pm (but you can have beers delivered from the downstairs bar!) or essentials like loaner power adapters or sewing kits. Since the heat in the room automatically turns off when you leave the, taking a shower immediately upon returning to the room is not the most pleasant experience: you only get two not particularly fluffy towels and no bathrobe, but I imagine that more towels would have been sent up if I had asked. Overall, I'd definitely go back to the Lorne if I were on a tight budget.

If you're not feeling up to the formal atmosphere at Mother India across the street but still in the mood for some incredible Indian cuisine, check out the cheaper, more casual Mother India's Cafe just a few blocks away, where Sauchiehall St and Argyle St meet.

Small rooms but well decorated

Small rooms but well decorated and kept. Nice location within walking distance to West End - several restaurants and pubs on the same street. Would stay here again.

Not good enough!

Our tiny room and even tinier bathroom were next to the function room (we didn't realise this until the DJ kicked off at 11.30pm) it would have been a great night if we were at the party but not so good with an early start the next day and the noise was deafening. We rang down to reception to be told that it would be over at midnight.. We rang again at 12.20 and were told it would be over at 1pm.. We rang at 1.20 and were told the last song was being played.. We rang at 1.45 to ask for a new room, guy on reception (who had fobbed us off all night) went to check availability and THE MUSIC STOPPED. Worst nights sleep ever and his attitude made it 100 times worse. We could have moved room at 11.30 and that would have been the end of it. The next afternoon we complained and moved to the 4th floor. Room was quite a bit bigger which was great but the internet connection was broken (Not so good when there for business) so we were moved yet again to a room that hadn't been cleaned. We headed out at this stage and in fairness when we returned the room had been cleaned. The hotel itself is quite nice, clean and well maintained but it is just very badly run. Reception staff were very helpful when we complained but we won't be going back to the Lorne.
