Good hotel in great City!

From arrival (One minute walk from Central Station) the staff seemed some of the most helpful I have encountered in my extensive travelling. The first room I was allocated had the most depressing view over the flat roof of the back of the hotel. I asked to be changed because they gave me a singe bed when I had booked a double. Nicely appointed room (still not great view), well equipped, poor television reception and expesive mini bar. Great shower, nice large towel (singular). The downside is the totaly depressing ambience of the Collage restaurant. I was dining alone, early on Burns night. Attractive, helpful, competent young staff. Set meal had an option of cleverly prepared Haggis, neeps and tatties as a starter. It was a small offering but more than enough for me! i was boring and had fish and chips! Briiliantly cooked and a portion far too large for me. Creme Brulee for dessert need a lot more caramilising! Nice large glass of excellent house white! But depressing beyond words. there is a central area from which breakfast is served and this is screened off with heavy screens - awful. The lighting is neither bright nor subtle - just gloomy! Really annoying taped musc, too loud That aside the sfaff were so helpful and met my simple needs admirably.

Nice, convenient hotel

This hotel was very pleasant, and the staff was great. The workout facilities were excellent, the room was comfortable although a little small. I would have liked wash cloths, but other than that, I really had no complaints. After staying in other hotels on the same trip, I really appreciated that the rooms were sound proof; we had no hallway noise even though we were right across from the elevators. The design of the common areas was cool, and my 5-year-old loved the elevators!

On arrival room had red wine stain

On arrival room had red wine stain and various grubby marks on carpet, went to reception who moved us straight away, no questions asked. Room could not be heated, only had air conditioning not radiators! On requesting an extra blanket, one arrived very quickly. Location very good, short stroll to all amenities, and transport links. Rooms were quiet, even though Christmas parties were taking place elsewhere in the hotel. All `essential` facilities are provided; kettle, hair dryer, iron, clothes line, city guide, concierge, etc.

Our stay at the hotel was wonderful,

Our stay at the hotel was wonderful, the staff couldnt do enough to help, even when it meant going out in the snow storms to get some medicine for my brother who took unwell when we first arrived at the hotel. The staff really were wonderful and the hotel itself is beautifully decorated and was warm and inviting. The food was also very very good, having sampled both the breakfast and dinner menu, it was really very nice. All in all a very enjoyable stay and one that we would hope to repeat in the future.
