- The Portland Hotel is the first and only AA four stars Hotel in Hull. Centrally located next to the City Hall and within walking distance to St Stephens and Princess Quay shopping centres. Waterstones, Hammonds, Debenhams, M&S, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, Toni & Guy and other brand names are just steps away. It is within walking distance of all the major tourist attractions including The BBC, Hull's Historic Old Town, the Theatres, the Law Courts, Museums, Galleries, Queen's Gardens and The Marina. The KC Stadium and The Deep are within a 15-minute walk.

- The Windows Restaurant is located on the first floor, with its floor to ceiling windows, overlooks Paragon Street. Open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Additionally on the ground floor they have the Baytree Cafe for Morning Coffee, Lunch or Afternoon Tea. The Bar and Lounge is located on the first floor. In addition to the normal range of drinks we serve morning coffee and afternoon tea, a large selection of wines by the glass, champagnes, cocktails and light meals. Macys Bar is located on the Ground Floor. A popular City Centre Bar with many special offers available.

Great place to stay
The staff were very friendly and the room was a fairly good size. It is centrally located so you could get to many places either walking or catching a bus if you wanted to go out of town. This was probably the best place I have stayed on my fourth trip to Hull and will stay here the next time as well.

Short walk from hotel
The museum quarter is not far away and there are several of them. The transport Museum called "Street Life" was great and the maritime museum was as well.

Good Location and near by Hull
Good Location and near by Hull station which shopping mall just 1min walk. However, bathroom is not too clean but receptionist are very nice. Dinner in restaurant are also good.

Comfort , friendly and Loads of Chacter
The Portland was center downtown Hull making it a short walking distance to everything (Train and bus stations, cinemas, live theatre, The Deep, shopping galore, museums, art gallery,restaurants. Everything was typically British. The hotel was old and small by Canadian and American standards but the staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms comfortable. Since our stay was 14 days long, we had plenty of time to enjoy them. The meals and dining service were excellant however, once the prices were translated into Canadian (1 pound =$2 CND, breakfasts at 12.50 pounds or 14.50pounds) the meals were far cheaper at a local cafe` or restaurant. There were lots of restaurants, cafe`s and take-outs all around the Portland. The bathroom was very dated with single pedistal sink. The windows were single glazed and were not sound proof or wind proof. We found everything typically British and enjoyed every minute. We would go back again and stay at the Portland.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
It will be easy to find a small cafe for lunch but they all close around 4:30 pm. For supper there are some pubs serving meals. We had supper at The Punch Hotel Pub which was behind the Portland a down a very short walk. The food was excellent. Mc Donald's, Pizza Hut and Subway are always open and again about 2 very short blocks away.
