The great port city of Liverpool is packed with history, culture and shopping - and Thistle Atlantic Tower is the ideal base from which to discover them. The hotel overlooks the Dock Front, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which puts it in the same cultural league as the Pyramids, Pompeii and the Great Wall of China. From the hotel, Liverpool icons the Liver Building and the new Liverpool One shopping district are just a short walk away. Tremendously Average

My wife and I traveled to England to visit her family over the Christmas holiday. Within our 14 day visit, we booked a hotel in Liverpool for a special night out for just the two of us as we figured we would need a break from staying at my mother-in-law’s house as its usually quite a busy place and the bed usually hurts our backs. We planned on seeing a show at the Royal Court Theater in Liverpool anyhow and decided if we found a reasonably priced hotel, we would book it. We wanted to find a hotel that was reasonably priced, but also within a walkable location to the main attractions- Albert Docks, Liverpool 1 and of course, the Theater. After doing some research online, we came across Atlantic Tower Hotel. In other reviews, we had read that it had received an overall 4.7 Stars by consumers for great location, good price point, and clean room. At the price we were offered the room, it seemed like a great deal, so we opted to book a room at this hotel. Once we arrived at this hotel, we were greeted by friendly staff. You could tell the hotel was a little bit older, but it seemed to be well maintained. When we checked in, we were told our room was on the 10th floor. When we found our room, we noticed it was a bit smaller than other rooms we had stayed in, but the bed was inviting, things were clean and the room- even with natural lighting- was well lit even though our room overlooked an office building. We put our stuff away and ventured into the city for the evening. It wasn’t until we got back in from the show that we really spent any time in the room. When we got back to the hotel, the overall place was pretty quiet. We took the elevator to our room and sat down on the bed. At this point, it was 10pm. Upon settling in, we realized we had some noisy neighbors. At first it was no big deal as we figured they would settle in as well, but whereas the walls were paper thin, we heard EVERY conversation they had, every door slam, every time the toilet flushed or brushed their teeth (which seemed to be very often). After a hot shower, we settled into bed. This was immediately disappointing as the bed was very uncomfortable…like worse than the one we’ve been staying on. Additionally, it was two twin beds that had been put together and there was a huge lump in the middle of the bed where the mattresses met. We made it through the night, until 7am when housekeeping started to deliver breakfasts to other guests and cleaning rooms. The housekeepers were hardly quiet complaining about other guests in other rooms. They were in the hallways banging around, yelling to each other and began vacuuming as early as 8am. Even if the bed was comfortable, this made sleeping in impossible. When we went to check out, the staff assisting us didnt seem to care whatsoever not even asking how are stay was, or even using basic courtesy to thank us for staying or wish us a good day. Long story short, if we wanted to sleep on an uncomfortable bed and be woken up at 7am, we would’ve saved the money and made the trek back across the river to my mother in laws. Aside from the location and the nice front desk staff at check in, be prepared for medicocracy at its finest.

One night and 2 days sightseeing the city of culture - brilliant!!

Our room totally exceeded our expectations! The view was the best I had ever seen in any hotel I have ever stayed in. The beautifully lit up church up just opposite and the Mersey was visible on the ninth floor where we resided. The buildings opposite felt like we were almost touching - absolutely wonderful! The staff were friendly too - I would certainly be recommending you and hope to return one day soon! Thanks for making it a memorable stay!

Great location, ok place

Hotel was perfectly located - close to Matthews Street and everything you want to go to. Room was perfect, maybe a little small, but clean and nice. Staff was amazingly nice and helpful. The restaurant situation was a little strange - there were menus all over the place, but that menu was not available in their restaurant?? Internet and breakfast at 10 pounds each per day were probably over priced.

Good locale for Beatles fan

Stayed two nights. Room was clean and spacious. Both nights listened to noisy neighbors (different people/language) in adjoining room. Buffet breakfast (10 pounds extra per day) was excellent, not sure of price with exchange rate. Only complaint for this and many higher end hotels is they charge for using their internet computer (several hotels I stayed at didn't charge at all for this service), and they charge for using their in-room phone even though it is billed to a calling card. Again, several places I stayed at in Europe didn't charge for phone calls if you billed it to a calling card. Otherwise, no real complaints. Especially good location for Albert Dock where the Beatles Story museum and the Magical Mystery Tour begins. Not opposed to staying there again.

The room was excellent and the view from the room at the 12th floor was simply stunning. The only problem was the heater/air conditioning which made constant rattling noise throughout the night. The staff are friendly and knowledegeable. Would visit again

Fabulous view from this very e

Fabulous view from this very established hotel but... There was a large wedding which basically took over the bar, we tried to get served but the wedding took priority. The noise in the corridors and in the rooms on our floor was really disturbing throughout the night. Why not put the weedding party on the same floor and leave guests not involved on ohter floors? Would be reluctant to go back to the hotel, which is a pity as my company has done a lot of businesss with this hotel
