Hotels in Canary Wharf - Docklands, London

Stayed 4 nights at the Brittania ,last minute booking for a show at Excel.Location and setting are great. Convenience store across the street to the left,great Pub to the right,3 Brilliant Indian Restaurants on Westferry Road, Cliftons was my fav,great Chicken Dansak for 6 pounds!,5 mins walk,3 mins walk to South Quay DLR stn,more shops,Subway,Tesco etc,10 mins drive to Excel,all good stuff.The hotel has some good points but some annoying issues which could easily be resolved. The entrance looks grand but reminds me of a hotel I once stayed in Bangkok.Lots of brass and wood,fake crown moldings and chintz galore. I am not really sure what theme/look the hotel was going for so it just decided to go with a bit of everything,Edwardian,Victorian mixed with some Asian inspired art and cheap reproduction furniture.The is carried through to the room.Nice size,clean with newer TV,but cheap furnishings and decor,Its all a bit tired but acceptable for the price.My 4 night stay was 30% less than at most other area hotels so acceptable. Negatives are shower has a tendency to go from warm,to hot to luke warm although the water pressure was good.Food was reasonably priced but there are good restaurants within walking distance.Parking was 21 pounds/$36 a day/night which even by London Prices is high.However from 5.30 on Friday thru Monday at 8.30 you can park for FREE on a single yellow line or pay a display.turn left out of the hotel and the road is the third on the right.I saved 63 pounds/$100 by doing this and it paid for some nice meals.I did'nt get to the pool or health club but understood it was quite nice.There is a nominal charge of 5 pounds which seemed fair.The rear of the hotel backs to the dock and would have been lovely to sit out in the summer.The bar was open till very late and very reasonably priced. The hotel was lively and well located ,it could do with a refurbishment but I suppose then they would increase the room prices,Its not the Ritz but great value for a London Hotel I would stay there again.

The hotel was lovely,clean and well put together.The staff was not friendly or helpful.I had to ask about everything.It would make things much easier if at the point of check in they gave you a brochures of the hotel with information to make your stay more comfortable.I also found it less enjoyable when you have to pay to use the pool or fitness center.The cleaning services was wonderful.Overall the hotel is beautiful.Comparing to other hotel I stay in. The Customer service was poor.I did not feel value.

Good secure parking but television in room was so up to date it took ages to discover how to switch it off.!

none of the front office staff had ever heard of Festival Hall in Southbank- and this is London. They told me that their clients don't go to classical music concerts...

The aircondition was very noisy and it was not possible to open windows in the rooms. Workout room was rather small and located so you had to pass people in the breakfast room in your gym dress in order to get there.

Very convenient location for London City airport. Good restaurant in the hotel. Rooms are slightly less than average for a 3 star hotel.

Fabulous b&b deal. Warm friendly staff. Lovely room on 7th floor. No noise from anywhere even though DLR ran down the side of the hotel. King-sized bed, flat-screen TV and little additional touches that made it special (mugs not cups, takeaway mugs, lingerie hangers, robe/slippers and full shower/bath/hair miniatures and umbrella. Slight disappointment with housekeeping in that mugs were dirty. We were asked however if we wanted the bed turning down and gave us chocolates. Great location for Jubilee Line and DLR into the City or Westfield Centre/Olympic Stadium Stratford. Breakfast was lovely despite having to queue for several minutes. An excellent choice of continental/cooked breakfast. Excellent discount on parking in nearby car park.

The hotel was beautiful and my room was perfect. It had a view of the water and the outstanding buildings of the financial district. It was just a few minutes walk to many pubs and restaurants and shops. Also near a tube station so getting in and out of central London was a breeze.

Very European style, very clean and very pleasant... Had business in the Canary Wharf district and though this was a couple of stops away on the DLR, worked out great. Eastern European desk help had a little trouble with my Texas twang, but overall they did their best to help when needed. It's a little bit inconvenient for an early morning flight out of Heathrow or Gatwick, but if you've got the time, you can save the cab fare (80 GBP to LHR!)

Nice hotel, Perfect breakfast! Only about 1h drive (metro) to city center.

The regular price was too high for what was offered, but the reduced price I paid was fully worth it.

One of the best value Hotels in London, and in a great location if you need to be in the Dockside area, or near London Airport & The 02 Arena. Sadly the bar has no drinkable ale but the food is good and The Chinese Restuarant is one of my favourite places to eat.

The workers were friendly and helpful. I didn't care for the part town that it was in. Very far from what we came to see...perhaps that's my fault. The rooms weren't that bad. The breakfast buffet was very good.

Hotel price was right, located near the Limehouse tube stop on the DLR (though hotel was hard to find on foot). My room was clean, wireless internet access was good and having a hot breakfast included was a bonus. Staff was moderately friendly and there were good restaurants close by if I didn't want to get back on the tube and go into central London. Considering London hotel prices this was very a good value. One caveat, the beds are smaller than in US and if you are tall this might be a problem. Since I am under average height, it posed no problem for me but my business colleague chose another hotel because he's over 6ft tall.

Good location for going to events at the o2 arena. Staff were excellent!

The room had an extremely comfortable double bed and surprisingly comfortable fold-out couchbed. There was a shower and a deep tub and a separate toilet, which worked well for two females sharing this room. Although there were plenty of hand and bath towels, no washcloths were provided, so for American visitors, bring your own.

Not bad for a Holiday Inn. The staff was friendly. The room was big and clean. The breakfast left much to be desired but was more than other hotels offer. There's not much in the area for dining but of course the station to the DLR & Tube is nearby so getting out of the area is (for the most part) easy.

Hotel bien situe, confortable et bien equipe. Par contre pas de wifi gratuit et tres cher ! Le petit dejeuner est tres moyen.

People very polite, generous and very good service. If We comeback We will choose this hotel again thankyou.

This hotel is not in the thick of things, but it's only a 20-minute ride down the Thames on a fast boat from Central London. The boat ride itself is great fun, and arriving at the center by boat is a lot more romantic than arriving by the outdated London Underground. The health club and pool are spectacular, with a great view of the Thames. There are really only good things to say about this place.

I arrived earlier than expected and asked if I could check in, I was told that I would have to wait until 15:00 to check in or I could pay £10 and check in early? I decided to wait until 15:00 by then there was a queue of about 10 different groups of people from singles to families all waiting until the Kameradschaftspolizei ( who was timing to the second ) decided to open the gates to Colditz and begin to process us....enough said.

Relaxing location - perhaps different when there is a show on at Excel? When trains are running, easy to get to anywhere in London. When trains are not running (e.g. maintenance work at weekends) - nightmare, with buses, exchanges, etc.). Hotel has a taxi service arrangement that is expensive (albeit comfortable and fixed price). Didn't feel there were any extra benefits in being a Priority Club member.

Unfortunately the Docklands Light Rail which is the ONLY efficient transportation close to the hotel was closed for the weekend and apparently it has been closed every weekend for MONTHS and will continue to be for an unknown number of months in the future! We were not informed of this at the time we booked the hotel,so ended up spending a fortune in taxis during our stay at the hotel. The closure is for "maintenance" but apparently this is an ongoing situation. If you are traveling on the weekends I would advise you find another hotel close to the underground rather than the DLR.
