Quaint, Good Price
This hotel is in a nice residential neighborhood, and is several townhouses connected. It is a pretty building with nice decor. The owners have gone to a lot of trouble to personalize it. That said, the floors creak, the lift is broken, breakfast is not included, and yet it's a nice place. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is super close to Swiss Cottage tube station and bus lines-zone 2 just north of Regent's Park and a few minutes bus ride to Camden Lock. There is a 24-hour corner store across the main road, a M & S Simply Food nearby and a Waitrose a block up. There are a variety of restaurants nearby. Cafe Caesar serves breakfast at almost half the price of the hotel. McDonald's is across the road if you need a cheap burger. You'll have to go farther afield for the traditional "English Pub," but they aren't hard to find. The hotel is well decorated, but their mattresses leave much to be desired. The staff say a complete building overhaul is in the works. I've stayed at Hilton and Thistle hotels previously. They included breakfast, which is nice, and the beds were more comfortable, but if you want to save money, stay here. The other hotels were also more centrally located, but the tube and busses come so frequently that everything in London feels close from any zone 1 or 2 location.

good location
A different but good location, quite near the Swiss Cottage tube station on the Jubilee Line, but on a quiet street. At two stops north of Baker Street, it's as easy to get to central London as from, say, Earl's Court. Adequate restaurants and services nearby on Finchley Road. My single room (and another I saw) were a little larger and more interesting than the minimal ones at some English hotels. Pleasant and helpful staff behind the desk. Only real drawbacks were a) the lift was broken all week and b) breakfast was not included, and was pricey for a buffet (more reasonable for an English breakfast). I got breakfast at the Dell'Aziz by the library (organic sort of place -- try the muesli and yogurt) and the Cafe Caesar on Finchley Road.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
Take the 31 bus about a mile to Primrose Hill. An easy walk takes you to the top -- much easier access than from Regent's Park. There's a view across London to the Thames. Not a mountain top or anything but the most best local greenspace. Go back to the bus (or take a short walk) to Chalk Hill and the Northern Line. Head north to Hampstead if you want to see a less urban, posh part of London. Or head south to Camden Lock.

Very nice hotel in great location
If you are looking for a fairly good value and a good place to stay while in London, look no further. The hotel is in a restored Victorian home with clean and nicely decorated rooms. The rooms are comfortable with modern amenities and a beautiful tiled bathroom. The staff seemed to be mostly migrant labor from eastern Europe so if you expect the English experience this is not your place. However, they were very helpful and this was not an issue for me. The hotel was only about a 200 feet from the Eton Avenue entrance of the Swiss Cottage tube station. This is on the Jubilee Line and connects very quickly to all parts of London by other lines. This is a hotel that I would recommend highly to the vacationer or business traveler alike.

Short walk from hotel
The usual London sites like Picadilly Circus, Oxford Street, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Madame Tussaud's, Marble Arch, Tower of London, etc. are just a short tube ride and walk away. You are only 200 feet away from the Swiss Cottage tube station on Eton Avenue on the Jubilee Line.
