Great location and staff
It was hard to believe all the other great reviews, but this hotel is wonderful especially for the price and location. It's a quiet building and neighborhood; out of the hussle and bussle but easily accessible to transport to the more happening areas. Although there's no restaurant, you can get vouchers for terrific discounts at nearby places. I went to two different restaurants with no problems getting the discounts on the meals.

Grab some pre-made food and wine at the local market for a quick meal at the end of a long day. Stop at coffee shop for morning coffee and pastry before heading off on the tube. Or stop at one of the pubs for some awesome food and company. Great neighborhood vibe!

Great hotel in a fine location
A great hotel with a very nice location! The service was excellent and they have relationships with good nearby restaurants that get you between 10% and 20% off. Even though South Kensington is a little out of the way, the Earls Court underground stop gets you on the District and the Piccadilly lines which took us everywhere we needed to go during our four day stay in London (we never transferred, not once).

Place to lay my head for my vacation
Base2Stay was an exceptional value for my vacation. All I really needed was a clean place to lay my head and shower in the morning, as I planned to be out of the room most of the day anyway and didn't need all the other "sitting rooms" and "kitchens" and "pools" or other entertainment/bar areas. I either ate out at the local pub or purchased take-out food that I was able to eat in-room and warm up if needed in the microwave in the room. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating or helpful and they assisted with arranging transportation pick-up at the hotel for a day-trip that I purchased through my vacation. My only wish/disappointment was that the internet was not as consistent or fast as I would have expected in today's information society, something that the staff were aware of and apologetic for; they even let me use their staff computer so I could check my emails. This hotel was located far enough away from the center of town to allow for lower room rates yet was just a 2-minute walk from the tube that gave immediate access to the rest of London. If all you are looking for is a clean place to stay for your vacation, this place is it!!

Great location - quiet hotel with great staff.
The Base2Stay in Kensington is a great location - just a short walk to the Earl's Court tube station, it's an easy ride to many of London's attractions. The hotel is quiet, clean and the room had a convenient kitchenette. The staff was friendly and helped to make our vacation a great one.

less than four stars if it was in the US
I don't have anything bad to say about this hotel, and I can only compare it to US hotels I have stayed at. The room was small, just enough room to walk around the queen sized bed. The free WiFi was adequate, but got very slow at certain times of day. High speed wired Internet access was available for an additional fee. My room had a refrigerator, sink, and coffee maker in one unit, which was handy. Drinking glasses and coffee cups were provided. There was a small safe in the closet, which I really liked. It was very easy to assign your own combination. The bathroom had the basics -- sink, shower, and toilet, plus a heated drying rack for the towels. All worked adequately except the sink drain was a bit slow. The desk staff was polite and helpful. The housekeeping staff did a good job. For food, there are only vending machines. (The 16.9 ounce milk carton was my favorite beverage.) No hotel dining room or lounge. However, there are many nice restaurants within easy walking distance.

Time-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Get an oyster card for public transportation. We used the Tube, buses, and trains extensively. The Earl's Court station is a short walk from the hotel. Its cheap, yet effective, if you don't mind rubbing elbows (and more) with the unwashed masses.

Loved it!
My daughter and I stayed here and it was just right! The location is very good, a few blocks away from the Earls Court tube, and a lots of basic shops and good restaurants. The staff was so helpful and friendly, they printed emails 4 me & let me use their phone after I checked out. The room is not huge, but very clean and everything seems new. The towels were nice & fluffy, beds were comfy. Nice big TV. The kitchenette was put to a lot of use as we like to eat breakfast in and snack at night!

Great hotel, great location....perfect after busy days sight seeing or shopping to retreat to and relax. Everything you need in close proximity. Only complaint would be that the shower constantly ran hot then cold after being in for more that a couple of mins.

Great visit
The staff at the Base2Stay were unfailingly helpful. The rooms are somewhat small (this is London, afterall), but well-appointed, new, and clean. We especially appreciated the mini-kitchen as it saved us from worrying about breakfast every day. The location is only 2 blocks from Earl's Court Station, which in on the Picadilly Line, and that makes it very convenient, both for visiting many of the famous places in the center of London, and for access to Heathrow. Finally, the price we paid was reasonable for London. We would definitely use the hotel again.
