Although the hotel appears to be quite dated, with 1970's style decor and furnishings, the location and simple but comfortable accommodation make this functional, practical hotel a good choice for those on a budget. (0803MJ) Exterior: The hotel is a 1970's building. Lobby: The reception is small but pleasantly light due to the large windows looking out onto the street. The decor is also 1970's style and there is a seating area available.

Bedford Rooms

Room Information
The rooms are medium in size and again decorated in 1970's style, the decor is quite dated, however clean and in fair condition. The bathrooms are quite small and also in fair condition.

Quite nice hotel, but old, hotel.

Quite nice hotel, but old, hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, and an excellent breakfast buffet. The hotel has a nice restaurant and bar attached to it, and is exceptionally well located close to Russell Square tube station. There are plenty of restaurants around the hotel and there is an easy walk to New Oxford Street and Oxford and Regent streets from there. I probably got one of the worst rooms on my floor, right in front of the housekeeping station, and you could hear everything from 6 in the morning. There was a gap under my door of about 1 cm, and all of the sounds out in the hall were amplified. Bathroom was small, but nice towels and sheets. I would stay at this hotel again for the price, friendliness, and location, but maybe not on a vacation trip where I wanted to sleep in and have access to more facilities.

The breakfast is seperated to continental & english.Everything is on the same bar, so if you don't read what each included you have to pay additionally. Poor and not fresh breakfast. Good location, friendly stuff

Well located, near the British

Well located, near the British Museum, rooms are very small, beds too narrow, and the room is cold. You could hear next room neighbour getting into bed.

A bit too expensive for what you

A bit too expensive for what you get. Otherwise I found the Bedford quite good. Perhaps if they didn't do silly things like changing sheets every day (ridiculous for a two night stay) they could reduce the tarrif a bit and help the planet, too. Also bit of a shock to book B&B and find when you get to breakfast find that it's only continental. You pay an extra GBP4.50 for cooked breakfast. A bit over the top. Would stay again as it is clean and very handy.

A good location although the lady

A good location although the lady on the desk seemed weary of her job and carried on typing for quite some time before even acknowledging we were there. A smile and a pleasant welcome is always a bonus after a long journey. The room was dated but clean . Breakfast reminded me of school dinners, very cramped i don't enjoy eating cereal when my elbows can just about touch a stranger!! We couldn't complain as the chief waitress a fierce matron was given some other customers a right good dressing down. I think she may also be job weary and maybe ready to be re-deployed into security?

Stayed in this hotel a few times.

Stayed in this hotel a few times. Good location, easy access to the theatre land, City and Oxford Street shopping. Hotel conveniently reached form Heathrow by Piccadilly line underground. Continental breakfast very scanty and not much better with the English breakfast, for which you pay extra. No fresh fruit, no yoghurt, no cheese or cold cuts available. Rooms are clean and the staff friendly and efficient. Nice hotel!
