Good location, tiny room.
The location of the hotel is awesome. It is less than half a block north and a block west of the tube station. There are plenty of places nearby to eat, and to run out to grab necessities - grocery store across the street - convenience store a block away; half a dozen cafes, and plenty of upscale restaurants. The Queens gate to Kensington Palace is a 10-15 minute walk up the road. Surrounded by other hotels and embassies. The room itself was tiny, tiny, tiny. From the pictures on the site, the view with the bed is actually the entire room. There's perhaps 2.5 feet of space around the bed on three sides, total. That's it. The bed was firmer than I care for. The pillows were either lumpy or too firm. The bathroom was kept immaculate by housekeeping. The pressure of the shower was excellent. The towels and linens smelled of strong chemical solvents. Staff was quite friendly. They didn't know the area as well as I would have liked when asking for directions. Provided me a bucket of ice every day. Overall, there's a ton of hotels in this area. The price per value isn't bad. The rooms are miniscule but clean. You'll be staying here for the location, though.

Excellent-Friendly Staff, Clean, Great Location
My compliments to to the management and staff at The Cromwell for excellent service and professionalism .The staff were very helpful with questions and provided added suggestions of favorite places to eat. The room was clean and modern and the housekeeping was great. The location is ideal with restaurants and a grocery store across the street. Additionally, the Gloucester tube stop is very close and the bus stop is in front of the hotel. Room 211 was small but adequate and similiar to other hotel rooms in London.

Next to Gloucester Road Tube - Picadilly (to Heathrow), Circle, and District. Many resturants near by, as well as Tesco Express and Waitroise; and coin laundry (last wash 7 PM) about 3 blocks north.

We were assigned a basement room that had a window but without a periscope we could not see the outdoors or know the weather. the location, however, one block from the Metro station was excellent.

Good but small
Reaching the hotel is super easy from Heathrow, with the Piccadilly line to Gloucester road (5.3 Pound). The Gloucester metro station has access to both Piccadilly, District and Circle line - reaching most places of interest in London. Hyde park is a 7 minute walk from the hotel. The rooms themselves are a bit small, or maybe the bed is to big - but there is no much space to maneuver after unloading 2 suitcases. There is no bath, only shower. There is no refrigerator in the room. There is coffee, chocolate drink, milk and tea in the room with a small kettle. Each day we were given new cookies and some chocolate surprises. The wi-fi didn't work for the first day, but the crew was very helpful and tried to help. When working, the wi-fi is fast. We didn't try the breakfast. Overall good experience.

Conveniently located hotel
Only a block away from a tube station; close to museums and other attractions. Room was fine but didn't have very good lighting.

Good location
Upon arrival, I was told we had a larger room because we were staying for 7 nights. The room was the smallest room I have stayed in during my 43 years of traveling. There was 14 inches of room on each side of the bed. To get into bed required climbing in the foot of the bed. When the bathroom door open, entry to the room was blocked along with getting to the wardrobe. The bathroom was very modern, with glass enclosed shower but no bathtub. Stool and sink very modern. TV was flat screen and wifi was good.

Worth it
The hotel was in a great location with a 2 minute walk to the Underground, 10 minute walk to plenty of non-American foods (but also included a couple American fast food), 15 minute walk to the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Natural History Museum, and about a 20-30 minute walk to the Kensington Gardens. The room was a bit tight, but bigger than I expected for most places in England. The only complaint I have was that it didn't feel like the A/C worked. The lowest temperature the A/C was allowed to go was 17 degrees Celsius which is about 63 F so, you'd think it would be very cold, but it felt more like 80 F. I may live in Florida, but I like my cold nights. We never did the breakfasts at the hotel, but they did mention that breakfast was not included, also I called locally from my room and was charged 1GBP, which isn't a lot, but figured I'd put that here just for your information.
