Unfortunately just an overnight stay.
We had to overnight in London because we could not make flight connections to the US from Italy. This hotel is across the street from the Glouster Rd. tube stop from Heathrow Airport. We dropped off our luggage and got back on the Picadilly Line to Picadilly Circus. In the morning the tube took us back to Heathrow in 50 minutes. It was perfect for our stay. Clean, comfortable and convenient!

Cromwell...good
My daughter and I were booked in a 'Double' but thought we could add a cot. Not so, but the staff was very accommodating and fixed our room situation and allowed us to gain entry early (after being in transit for almost 24 hrs). The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The room layout is something of a maze. But the rooms are clean and efficient. I was impressed that the toilet had two flush options...a water saving idea the States should consider. Location is good...a bus stop directly outside the hotel and a Tube stop a few hundred feet away. Two nice pubs close by and many other restaurant choices. A Waitrose store directly across the street and a Sainsbury a block or so away...has anything you might need. If you are able to get a room at a competitive price, well worth it.

Great Location
The hotel was four blocks away from The Museum Of Natural History and The Victoria & Albert Museum. Also the Gloucester Train station is just one block away. I was very happy about that. Kensington Gardens (where Kensington Palace is) is close by; the Post Office is down the block. Harrods and the stores on Knightsbridge are walking distance. However even though it was near all these places there wasn't a lot of noise and it was quiet enough to sleep at night. The hotel room was a little small but it was quite clean and comfortable for us two. We stayed one week and loved it. When we go back to London we would stay there again. The staff was courteous and helpful. My only complaint was the lack of TV channels but I only watched a little at night anyway.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
We loved Paul, a bakery less than a block away where we had the best croissants, cappuccinos and the richest hot chocolates. The place is small and cozy and the ambiance was great. Nice staff as well.

For vacation in London for a week, I chose the Cromwell originally just for the price. I had a great experience! The room was very clean and kept up regularly. It's an excellent location. The neighborhood is a great walking area. The staff was helpful and at attentive. I've seen some reviews that talked about a smell of smoke. This hotel does allow you to book a smoking room, but my room did not smell of smoke nor was I around other people who smoked. I would defiantly stay here again.

Great bargain hunting
This hotel suited our needs perfectly. Location is located very close to many interesting things to do. The rooms are nicely decorated, have a safe, tv, blow-dryer, and free internet (most hotels charge a lot by the day for this in London). So basically you get a lot for the price - location, service, clean rooms, etc. The desk was always available, 24x7. When we needed an iron (the only thing not in the room) they brought it up immediately. The breakfast buffet was great (although we were changed for it 9.95 - it's not included in standard hotel rooms I think). When we needed an Iron, they brought one up. Very nice staff.

Good location, helpful staff, small and cold rooms
The complaints: - The room was really small (they have bigger rooms under ground level, but we'd prefer the more lights). - The room was pretty cold for the first few hours. - The free internet was not working in the whole room, just in some parts. The good things: - The staff was really helpful: they exchanged our room from an under the ground level one to a higher one and they charged only a small fee for an additional person. - The location couldn't be better at the edge of Zone 1 and 50 meters from a Tube station. - Pretty good value: among the cheapest hotels in London, yet in a quite central location.
