mr

The hotel rooms were described as a room with 1 king bed and 1 twin bed and 1 king bed. When we arrived in London I had to pay an extra 175 pounds or $283 for a biger room. The room we reserved for 3 could not have been any smaller. There was 1 king bed and a pullout couch and nothing else . The couch actually touched the bed leaving no room to walk arround. I kept one of the small rooms for myself and paid the extra$283 for the 3 daughters Very dissapointed with the rooms I understand Europe hotels I have been there at least 40 different trips and know the rooms are smaller than here

Charing cross hotel

This hotel was in a great location close to the train station (under ground) restaurants all over walking distance to museums bars & night clubs. But the hotel lobby and hallways has a terrible smell like dirty socks the decor was dark and gloomy the room was very small for $300 a night and had a very dated bathroom the shower sucked & had half of a glass door so after every shower their was a huge pond on the bathroom Floor the sink was falling apart & needed a serious upgrade. The hotel was not at all worth the money.

You Can't Get More Central

We chose this hotel because it is right by Trafalgar Square and easy walking distance to everything in central London, plus an adjoining tube stop. If this kind of access is important, the Charing Cross hotel really suits. The rooms were very comfortable, and the housekeeping staff very helpful in providing additional towels and pillows and other services as requested. The desk staff, however, were another matter--they were slow to respond to guests and seemed generally indifferent about the impressions they made.

A convenient, cheap eatery is the Cafe in the Crypt, in the basement of the church of St. Martin in the Fields.

The Guoman Charing Cross

Check in was at 2 PM - we arrived early and were told the room would be ready at 2- it was not actually around 2:30 and I thought they were snotty. The high speed internet was slow speed and around $40 for 5 days and during one of those days it was really slow. The room was average to small but well furnished with a very good HVAC system. The shower never developed a really hot shower. The saving grace for this hotel is its location which is close to perfect if you do theater or in the UK theatre. A better internet solution was to walk across the street and go to Starbucks which has both free and fast internet.

Go to Leicester Square for discount theater tickets - it is the equivalent of hot tiks and less expensive than any of the discount ticket agencies purporting to sell cheap tickets. The kiosk is in the south west corner of the square.

Nickel and dimed to death

The hotel was nice. The rooms were larger than expected, clean, and the location is great. However, it was more of the more annoying hotel experiences that I had in awhile. Wireless Internet? Sure, 10 pounds for 24 hours. A power adapter for your phone? No problem, 5 pounds. Perhaps I am spoiled, but at over three hundred dollars per night, I expect certain amenities. Also, we asked the concierge for a restaurant recommendation, but Yelp provided a better recommendation that was in walking distance. Overall, I will stay in one of my old London favorites over this place on my next trip.

Great location with average room experience

It is a great location hotel with Metro below the hotel building and 200m to Trafalgar Square. Quality is good although hotel rooms need some refreshment if they want to be considered as full 4* hotel

charing cross hotel

lovely welcome by the staff, however when we arrived in our room there was a very strong smell of cigarett smoke, we do not smoke, the room other than that was lovely and the sofa bed made up already for my son.If the room had been checked they would have noticed the smoke and opened a window! we requested a new room, they moved us and that room was also very nice but the sofa bed obviously was not ready but the porter brought all the bedding with us when we changed room and said some one would be along to make up the bed, this was approx 3pm and we went of for the rest of the day, arrived back at 11.30pm ready for bed to find the bed had not been made up and the bedding had gone! so we telephoned reception it took them 30 minutes to find some bedding and arrive at our room with itl. ~ All the staff were very apologetic and I did mention when we checked out I was not happy and again they just apologised and said would look into this, the deputy manager later telephoned me to say their had been a comunicaon problem between us moving rooms and house keeping! But the room should not have been smelly in the first place so not the standard you would expect from this hotel.

Good location, fairly nice

The Charing Cross is in a great location, basically just off of Trafalgar Square. I found the price a little steep for the quality and have stayed in other London properties that I thought were significantly nicer for less. The Executive King room was quite big for British standards. There was nothing really wrong with the property, it just wasn't outstanding. However, the location was brilliant.

A great place to stay

I was a little concerned based on some of the earlier comments, but I was very impressed. The room was bright, clean and very comfortable. I was facing the train yard rather than the front so it was very very quiet.Beware of the breakfast line. [...]It looked GREAT, but there was a long line on Sunday morning so I went elsewhere.I travel alot to Canterbury so I will definitely stay here again to catch an early train
