Great place
Very comfortable hotel. Good value for money. Located near Underground, major shops, cafés etc. Staff stressed and sometimes very unfriendly. Especially those cashing breakfast buffet: We felt as if we had been here by charity and not as hotel guests! Held a Weetabix in the hand when walking out of restaurant and was shouted at: You're not allowed to take food out of the hotel!!! 1 (one) Weetabix...!

Very adequate value for money!
Comfortable hotel. Reception and guest service staff all in all nice, but wanted to send us away because room wasn't ready - he said. I asked him to check - of course room was ready. Breakfast reception impossible: behaving as if guests were staying on charity basis. Hotel as such very good.

The hotel was very nice with a super staff. From the minute I arrived until the minute I left the staff were very attentive. The hotel is located a block or two from the Underground which made it the perfect location for us.

Great service with a great place !
This hotel has surpassed my expectations, i stayed for 6 night. The place is perfect , as you can walk to the Hyde park with less than 5 minutes . What made it better is that you're only 2 minutes far away from the station , which will save you time . The staff is great & they're so cooperative , the service was so good in general as i wouldn't ask for more . I would hardly suggest this hotel for anyone who's visiting London whether it was for a long vacation or a business trip , it was perfect

Pay for wifi in 2012?
Glad I only stayed one night. The room was basic. The staff were not rude but very unhelpful. Asked for directions to a concert venue 2km away(O2 empire sheperds bush) and nobody knew where it was. Asked for 2 pints in the bar and they said the beer I ordered was too strong they only do halves. Then room cleaning woke me up at 0800hrs when I was due to check out at 1100hrs. And for get some coasters in the bar!

Better than expected...
We stayed only 1 nite before going on to Southampton for cruise, so just wanted some place clean & reasonable (the price is really good for London) and got a lovely upscale hotel with accomodating staff & lovely room. Do have the breakfast buffet (not included in our room rate) it was excellent & elegant. WOuld definetely recommend.

Weekend away.
Tha hotel was clean but it looks dated and the rooms are in urgent need of an update. When we arrived there was a tray with a kettle tea, coffee etc.in our room. After a long day sightseeing we returned tired and thirsty and i was dying for a cup of tea,the cafe in the lobby was closed so i returned to my room to find that tray with kettle etc. had been removed. The same thing happened in our friends room, its only a small thing but it really annoyed me!

Hotel Tara
A good place to stay and within easy underground link to most mainline rail stations. The food was good though we did have a few issues with the heating of some items of the buffet breakfast. Staff were attentive and courteous and happy to help.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
An Indian restaurant nearby was recommended by the hotel and whilst the food was quite good we saw no prior notification that a 12.5% would be levied. We had much better meals at a fraction of the price.

great time in London
the concerige service was absolutely wonderful, as I didnt have a clue about London. Everything was very convenient, vodaphone, the banks, ATM'S, groceries, shopping, cab service right there waiting for you, great food, oh yea the tube system and bus system right around the corner.

Money-saving tip:
Not Applicable
get an oyster card, great for use of tube system and bus system, like a bank card, put the amount of money you want on it and its is cheaper, 1.10 per way verses 4.00 one way. use your ATM to get money and 1.00 service charge from you bank, of course you money will be converted to pounds.

The comments are correct about this hotel. Great location but shabby rooms. Make sure to ask for a room that does not face the Underground rails. The room was in need of a makeover. The bathroom was a nice size but it was nearly impossible to turn on the shower faucet or make the water turn off. The only reason to stay at this hotel is for the location.
