Such a shame.
The hotel has been re-modeled in the last few years. Unfortunately style over usability. The dining room is in the basement, with predominantely dark colours, its like a bunker. There are no lights, in the room, in the lounge - or anywhere else - you can read by. The rooms were tiny, noisy, the airco didn't work, I changed rooms twice (in a three night stay, I was actually offered a third move over the airco), it was not GOOD! But the staff were superb, every last one tried to make up for a seriously bad makeover, I had stayed in the hotel before, prior to the refurbishment, my mistake.

That area of London is seriously overpriced. However, if you like your breakfast, Fortnums open at 0700 and offer a beautiful breakfast at a price below most hotels. Enjoy.

stay elsewhere
While the location of Flemings is excellent, almost everything else was not. I could not get the Internet to work in my room. The room was tiny, the bathroom tiny. It was a noisy location, so getting a good night's sleep was a challenge. Paying hundreds to stay here is not a good idea! Will not return.

small room with rocks for pillows
Lots of service staff to take your roller bag to your room. But the room was very small, the bed uncomfortable and the pillows were like small flat rocks. We ran the a/c to keep from roasting in the room.

Reasonable
Pros: Solid hotel, comfy bed, bit dated and tatty around some edges, but generally good. Cons: Dodgy shower, alternating between extreme temps (may just have been our room). High price for internet use in an era when I don't recall when the last time I was charged for internet in a hotel was. Small closet - no problem for a couple of nights, but a week or so and you may struggle for space. For the same price Millenium Baileys which we stayed in last year is probably better, but this one is ok enough

Good for the price
As this was a low budget excursion, I can not complain overly much. I do wish my room had not been next to the lift as the constant roll of the cars and weights was rather disquieting. The room being on the ground floor made me wish the maids would leave the blinds closed. It is rather annoying to walk out of the shower and discover you had forgotten to close the blinds ... AGAIN....

Great location to see London
This is my second time at Fleming's Mayfair, and it probably won't be my last. The location of this hotel right off of Green Park makes this the ideal place to stay when in London. The hotel just redecorated the dining room, but I chose to eat out given the number of good restauarants in the area, especially as Shepherd's Market is around the corner from the hotel (try L'Autre, a Polish-Mexican restaurant - it's very good). The rooms are tastefully decorated, the bathrooms are newer and the staff very friendly & helpful. The London Tube & buses are just blocks away, and you can walk to most London attractions like Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus and, a little farther out, the Houses of Parliament. I thought this was an ideal central location to get to any train station or other tube line in London. William the Concierge (mentioned in some other reviews) is gone, but the new concierge was helpful. The only thing that they could improve are the beds - they are a little hard and the pillows could be nicer - otherwise, you'd be hard-pressed to find a nicer place to stay for the money.

Good place
Excellent location within two blocks of several Zagat rated restaurants, subway, and walking distance to many sites, but on a quiet street. Exterior looks better than web picture. Initially given a small room with double bed, had booked queen. They gave us one of the large "apartment" rooms at no extra charge. Very friendly, good staff, though they couldn't initially find theatre tickets mailed to us which ended up in our missing part of the first act.

Lovely Stay
A lovely stay - excellent location with many major tourist sites an easy walk away (Buckingham Palace, Westminster, Trafalgar); just a few blocks to the Green Park tube station as well (3 lines connect there). If your baggage is manageable, you can walk to this station and take the Picadilly line directly to Heathrow Airport - quick & inexpensive. Our room was clean, comfortable, and looked like it was recently updated. Staff were courteous and helpful.

Shepherd's Market area on the next block has many good and reasonable restaurant options, and Cafe Nero at the end of the hotel block is excellent for coffee and snacks/light meals.

Great location, great staff
The best thing about this hotel is that it is centrally located to so many attractions. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The price was very good for being in central London. We felt safe walking in the area at all times of day and night. There is a nice little shopping area with some great pubs just a few blocks away...Shepherd's Market. I would definitely stay here again.
