Good Value
I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. Few good and few bad things about it. Very nice breakfast buffet. Clean room. However it could be improved in following things: 1. The coffee/milk items in the room were not replaced the next day 2. The bathroom door was not able to be closed 3. There was a door in between the two rooms and the TV noise was coming from the next room through that door. 4. There should be bit more instructions for how to open the lights in the room. 5. The WIFI wasn't able to be connected in the lobby

It's been quite a few years now
It's been quite a few years now since I started coming to this hotel. It's always been pleasant to stay there, good location and friendly staff. However, this time I found the hotel rather shabby and the cleaning staff didn't do their job properly. The breakfast place was changed and that made it less cosy although the food is still OK. So I would like to tell the hotel, shape up concerning the cleaning. This would make it nicer to stay in.

As everybody notices, this hotel
As everybody notices, this hotel is located in a not so nice location - a laneway with large rubbish bins nearby. However, once inside, all is ok. The (free) breakfast was good and even included scrambled eggs (but made from powder I believe- based on texture, appearance and taste!) and bacon, sausages etc. Room was spotless. One of two lifts was not working for most of my three day stay. Staff were helpful and friendly. No fridge in room Overall, a good experience.

Contemporary-looking room. Bright
Contemporary-looking room. Bright and of good size. Staff were very polite and friendly. Convenient location -- just a couple of minutes from the main shopping area, and a short walk to the East Croydon train station. Breakfast was rather basic. Internet available through LAN (not free); no free WiFi.

My review of Express By Holiday Inn LONDON-CROYDON
When I arrived to check in at reception, there was no one at the front desk although there were staff working in an adjoining room where the door was open. After several minutes, I politely called for someone to come and check me in. The young woman who did so was not particularly welcoming. Everything about the hotel itself was very good. Good size room, very clean bathroom with lots of hot water. Good working television with a wide range of channels. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room were much appreciated. The free continental breakfast was very good and plentiful. My ONLY problem was the location of this hotel. It was up a dirty laneway, filled with garbage bins. The garbage collection process itself was very noisy. The adjoining area itself was also not very pleasant. The hotel's location was really the only major drawback to my experience.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
If you are a keen shopper an enormous shopping centre, the Whitgift Centre, is an 8 minute walk. By train, Gatwick Airport is about a 20-minute ride.
