London Weekend
Very clean rooms, lovely decor in a great location. WiFi is expensive - I expect free. A refrigerator in the room would have been nice to have.

Good location
A hotel with history - nicely renewed. Staff does not fit in this good atmosphere. Except the concierge!

Past glory and expensive
Am a business traveller and often in London, and I usually try to keep away from the Russell Sq area for the noise and impracticality of it's underground connecgtions. I don't like the Russell hotel, it is very big and tries to resemble the Hilton or similar chains but it's just a tired hotel. So you have to pay for everything - Internet (UKP 15!), breakfast (UKP 20!) and so on, while the carpets in the room are a bit old and dirty, the lighting in the hallways is a bit yellow and similar remarks. One evening they didn't have any Internet vouchers left as well - so for any connectivity you had to go out into a coffee shop to get work done.

Beautiful Victorian Luxury a minute's walk from The British Museum
Really beautiful hotel, wonderful Victorian british hotel inside and out but with lovely modern room interiors, great british service, breakfast and more. Minutes walk from The British Museum, great pubs and nice restaurants away from the more touristy and commercial areas. Minutes walk from Euston Station. We loved it and will absolutely return.

Nice hotel in central london
We upgraded from the standard room (which was a little small and not too beautiful) to a mini suite. The latter was considerably better, although the first night, we couldn't get the heating to work (and neither could the staff). We were then transferred to a different suite, which was considerably better. Staff are nice and the location is great.

Well-situated Victorian gem
I spent a week at the Russell while attending an academic conference and found it very comfortable and modern. TS Elliot used to meet his fiancee at the bar, it is rumored. Very well-located and very convenient to the Russell Square stop, UCL, British Museum, etc. My only complaint was that the single was a bit small -- though maybe that's to be expected.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
I didn't try the hotel breakfast -- it was 12 pounds if I agreed to take it at check in, but only if I pre-ordered it every day I stayed there. Normally it is 19 pounds. Probably very good, but there's a good place around the corner called Blooms where you can get the works for five pounds.

The Russlle Hotel
The location is great, there is a direct subway line from the airport to the Russelle square stop, which is around the corner from the hotel. The rooms are of an average size and clean. The staff are great and helpful. My only problem is with the size of the comforter, which is kind of small for a big guy like me. Other than that everything is fine.

A splendid hotel with period features that make it feel so different. Ideally located for all that London offers. Very friendly staff who struck a balance between helping and allowing visitors space to relax. Clean, spacious room. Much enjoyed and appreciated the stay.

Beautiful inside and out. Standard
Beautiful inside and out. Standard room was a bit small and bathroom was tiny. However this is central London. Breakfast was excellent. Would definitely stay there again.
