Location

Great for our purposes. Walking distance to Hyde Park and the Speaker's Corner; also Kensington Park. Clean room and helpful staff. The Underground station was just around the corner.

Lancaster London

Very pleasant staff, nice rooms and good service. Restaurants are not good value, however, with meals over priced and not very good. This hotel caters to business travel and unfortunatley they want approximately $28 for daily Wi-Fi service in your room. A small hotel accross the street provides complimentary Wi-Fi. So all in all, rooms are nice, extra services are pricey.

Small but comfortable

Like most hotels in the heart of London, the Lancaster offers small rooms that are a bit cramped for two people. However, the rooms are clean and generally comfortable, and the staff goes out of its way to make sure you have a pleasant stay. The hotel's two restaurants offer excellent food at reasonable prices, and the 24-hour room service proved convenient when my wife and I arrived at midnight following an eight-hour flight. Plus, the Lancaster London is on the same block as an Underground station (Lancaster Gate) and bus stop, so you only have to take a few steps to get anywhere in the city. The hotel is a bit expensive, especially if you don't book early through an agency like Orbitz. Also, phone calls are not free. A 10-minute local call cost me more than 7 pounds (about $12), so be sure to use an international cell phone that has lower calling rates.

Great Place with Friendly Staff

This hotel was excellent. It's right around the corner from the tube so it makes it easy to get around. My only issue is that internet access is 17 pounds per day! There is 15 minutes of free internet per day so that helped. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Things close early around the hotel. There's an Indian Restaurant, Fish and Chips Place and Pub nearby that stay open fairly late. I'd suggest you get snacks and drinks at a corner store during the day and put it in the mini fridge for late night snacks.

Great experience at LL

Hotel located in less busy residential area near Hyde Park, decent sized room. Deluxe City View room on 17th floor, fantastic view of London. Business center provided 15 mins of free internet per day, beyond that was 3 pounds for 30 mins or 17 pounds for 24 hrs -- a little steep compared to internet cafes around town. Complimentary chocolates upon arrival, helpful concierge, turn down service, complimentary tea, hot chocolate and tea cookies! We loved it!

Topping the Charts...

The room was a lot bigger than I had intended. A bonus! The bed was extremely comfortable as well. I stay in the UK for business once a month, and this hotel has been brought to the #1 spot. Very friendly staff, very clean. I will look to stay at the Lancaster again.

Excellent Hotel and Location

The hotel was excellent over all. The location was perfect, next to Hyde Park and above Lancaster gate tube station. The room was big, clean and the housekeeping staff was very efficient. Spring street which is a 2 minute walk from the hotel has all kinds of places to eat and basic grocery available. The room had a fridge to store food and drinks. The staff was very helpful. Highly recommended.

Our London Vacation

The Lancaster London (Formerly Royal Lancaster) was just wonderful. First location, it was near everything, we took a train from the airport to Paddington Station and only needed to walk a few blocks to the hotel. The underground and buses were right at the hotel so talk about convenience, it couldn't get any better. Second, the hotel was beautiful, clean and had great places to eat right in the hotel. Third, and best, was the staff. We would go to the concierge every day and get directions, advise, tours, and even an umbrella on a rainy day. All in all, I would tell anyone traveling to London to consider this hotel. We loved it.

The underground (subway) and bus were right at the hotel. It was cheap and you could get day passes or multi-day passes and save money. You can get anywhere in London using this transportation.

Ideal location for easy access to transportation

The room was perfect with comfortable beds, refrigerator, air conditioning, city view, safe in the room, and quiet for good sleeping. The bathroom was top-notch including heated towel racks, slippers, and robes. The staff was friendly and helpful, and willing to store luggage and allow use of the hotel safe on the day of departure after checkout. The best part was the location -- close to Paddington Station, on top of a tube stop and bus pickup. Hyde Park is across the street. Quaint breakfast spots are nearby as well as an ATM. Location made day trips to Windsor and Bath quite simple, and exploring London into the evening worry-free and routine.

Easy access to Heathrow and Subway - Tube!

Great Staff, the basic room I chose was on the 6th floor - rememember, the first floor in Europe is the Ground floor, the first floor is the second, and so on, so my 6th floor room was actually on the 7th floor (the higher you go, the quieter it is is), also the windows were the double pane windows - so I had a quiet room. The bathrom had a hair dryer, towel warmer, the room had an iron board and iron. Over all, was a great room and hotel. Very Clean - oh and tube stop was outside the door, around the building.

Plan on one attraction per day,i.e. Buckingham Palace, City Tour, etc. so you don't exhaust yourself. It takes a long time to get around while learning the in's and out's of London Travel, so plan one event for the day, then if you have time you can add other activies or just go shopping and have a cup of tea in a pastry shop, or just walk and sit in the park. Green parts everywhere.
