Close but no cigar

Details say that this location is only 15 minutes from downtown London, this is not true. By train and tube you will be over a half hour to any sightseeing locations. Also, the hotel is so far from the downtown area that you travel through 5 different tube "zones" which means you will pay alot more for your underground travel. If you stay here you will be looking at atleast 10 pounds per day for travel alone. The room itself looks nice enough. Surfaces seemed clean, but the carpet had not been vacuumed, as a result I was finding long black hairs all over. Also, the shower just decided to stop working the second morning. The bed strangely only had a flat sheet covering the mattress, there was no other sheet between you and the comforter, which was disconcerting. I hope the comforter was washed between customers, but have no way of knowing. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel, I was just as happy staying in a 20 pound per night hostel closer to the city. Also, we requested a rollaway the last night for a friend who was splitting the room with us, the attendant seemed visibly annoyed at our request and never delivered the rollaway bed. When I went down an hour later to see if they were bringing it up, they had closed the office and no one was available to speak with.

A Glorified Hostel

I hate to write this because I do not want to sound rude, but I do not want what happened to us to happen to you. To be fair when we arrived we thought the room looked nice until we found that the toilet had never been flushed from the previous guest nor had the sink been cleaned. The shower would randomly stop working and I had to finish washing my hair in that dirty sink. The bed only had a thin top sheet laid over the top of the bare mattress, and this would come loose so you would suddenly be sleeping on the mattress itself. No one comes to make your bed while you are out either. All this could have been okay if the service was good, but the reception (which doubles as a bar) closes before 11pm and doesn't open til morning. There is no number to call, and even if you do manage to catch someone they say they will be up in 5 minutes and then never come. Also, It took 45 minutes on the tubes to get to the heart of London from there, and it's located in zone 5 so it's more expensive to get there as well. I've stayed in nicer Hostels than this for a fourth the price (although of course the hostel did not have a flat screen TV which was my favorite part.)
