Mad Hatter - convenient
This simple hotel is located in the heart of London near LES, National theater and many other attractions. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was simple but adequate and quiet. Nice pub downstairs.

Great location, fine hotel
The Mad Hatter occupies an older building, with a pub (with fine beer) downstairs. The rooms are comfortable and the ones at the back, at least, have no noise problem despite the great location, close to Blackfriars Bridge, the South Bank of the River Thames, and easy walking distance to many of the sights of London.

The Mad Hatter is a Lucid Choice
The South Bank location is great as it's just a short stroll to the incredible Tate Modern from where you can continue across the Millenial pedestrian bridge to St. Paul's Cathedral in the heart of London. The hotel is conveniently located also because it is above a Fuller's Pub. The staff are friendly and helpful. The draught beer is delicious as was the smoked fish and leak pie for dinner.

Good Location, Call to Confirm Reservation
A brief mix-up on check-in when the receptionist couldn't find my reservation and momentarily implied it was my fault for assuming that three e-mail confirmations and the full amount charged to my credit card two months prior were sufficient evidence that I would have a room waiting for me, but after it was sorted out, I did get a room. It wasn't the double I'd booked, but a twin-single, however that was rectified the next day when they shoved the two beds together, an awkward combination which left two odd headboards on the wall and the bedside plug in the middle of the bed. The receptionists were not the friendliest, but the cleaning staff was so good I felt a bit guilty leaving dirty clothes in view. The pub downstairs is a Fuller's, but serves decent food and drink. The full English breakfast was included in my first night; I wouldn't have thought it worth the price otherwise. The shining glory of this place is its location, 10 minute's walk to Waterloo and 5 minutes to Soutwark or the newly opened Blackfriars. The Tate Modern, Globe Theatre, and Millennium Bridge are only 10 minutes away. You can even glimpse the Thames from the upper floors, at least until something is erected in the hole in the ground across the street.

Comfortable and convenient
Good starting point for walking to all points in the city. Great to have breakfast available in the pub downstairs - free on weekends as part of my package was even better! Shower was hot. Tea box in room always had a small cookie treat that came in handy after a long day. Two of the desk clerks were very helpful. Wait staff in pub was great. Mattress was not good but the duvet and lighting were perfect for the season.

Entertainment tip:
Short walk from hotel
Try out the local pubs. They are all fun, have great ales, beers and ciders on tap and the food isn't just fish and chips.

Your otherwise fantastic hotel
Your otherwise fantastic hotel would benefit from having airconditioning installed in the bedrooms. OK - it's not your responsibility that London was extremely hot this weekend, but still!

Very much enjoyed the stay and
Very much enjoyed the stay and would stay again. The people were lovely and helpful (we got stranded for an additional night due to the ash cloud and they were extremely helpful), the rooms were large for UK standards and very clean, and the pub on the main floor was fabulous, and the food very good. The breakfast was great as well - huge and tasty. I plan on staying there the next time I am in London.

Just right
This hotel was just as advertised, simple, clean, and great location. The pub downstairs was so cute, and was nice to come back to after a long day. South Bank is such a great area, and has a lot more around than most North bank locations, and is a close walk to Waterloo tube or Southwark Station. Definitely explore this area, and make sure to check out Borough Market!

Take the bus! RV1 bus goes right to the Covent Garden area, and is so much easier than taking the tube!

Very Comfortable!
The hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating :) The room was a nice size for two twin beds, great sized bathroom and very quiet, especially for being on a fairly busy street!
