DON'T BOOK THE MAJESTIC!!!!
Firstly I rated The Majestc Not Good as they they had no "Dumped Me in London Button"! Sure the place was grotty, smelly and unkept (This was The Lobby!) however at the price offered I figured it's a bed in London after a long day of flying etc. Well it was'nt even that.......The lady at the desk said she had no record of my reservation. Not to worry - I had all the paperwork that you're supposed to print out, the reservation #, booking #.... even proof that the money had been charged to my Visa Card which I had with me. Didn't make any difference. When I asked her what I was going to to do for a bed that night she said it wasn't her problem!!! As the heading says don't book this CRUMMY HOTEL. By the wat The Stanhope Arms is a nice little Pub up the way there at the Gloucester Rd Tube station. Still love London till the say I die! PS CheapTix did refund the cash when I got home!

The Majestic is AWFUL
Even if you are traveling on a budget, do NOT stay here. It is unsafe and not worth the stress. Staff is rude and they go out of their way to make you feel uncomfortable...reminding you over and over how they are not responsible for "lost" items. The hotel has a strange policy where you ahve to hang in your room key every time you leave the building...giving any potential person free access to your room with your belongings if so... Also, room and common areas are dirty. This hotel should be described as a hostel or worse. Bathrooms are minimal i.e. no soap/working hairdryer/1 towel and there is a sign in the room posted saying "don't drink the water." There are no screens on windows. Learn from our mistake and do NOT stay here!!!

Stayed here w/e of 26th June for Hyde Park festival. Great location but the hotel is rather tired and old and could do with a lick of paint if not a complete refurb. It probably could be Majestic with some investment, but my room was only just big enough for the bed and not much else. Having said that, I was only there to sleep so it did the job, but a bit expensive for what I got... Can't say I'd stay there again though - there's plenty of others which look much better nearby...

The hotel is indeed a little bit
The hotel is indeed a little bit run-down, but for that rate one shouldn't complain. It has most facilities available in budget hotels and the counter staff is very helpful. Very near to 2 tube stations and to 2 museums as well. The hotel is loaded with Spanish students and they are on the whole very well-behaved. Unlimited supply of coffee, tea and buns for a reasonably priced continental breakfast. It seems all the staff working there are migrant workers (except the char lady perhaps). There is no reason why I shouldn't book this hotel again.

My first trip back after two years,
My first trip back after two years, whilst there is nothing drasticly wrong with the hotel and the staff are great the rooms have started to look tired. If your paying £30 you think great but £45 is toppy. The cold tap did not work, but to be fair it was repaired the following day before I complained. The TV reception was bad with only BBC 1 working as there was an issue with a broken ariel. One oof the reasons I was happy to stay here was the shower room was always clean which it still is but its just looking very tired and ok its fine if your on your own but you would not take your partner. The hotel needs a spruce up and a lick of paint and then it would be grand........but to be fiar I have staid in worse. No kettle for coffee etc either... But no complaints about the staff as they are always jolly etc.

I had read a few bad reviews of the Hotel before my arrival but I chose to ignore them. Upon my arrival I saw that they were not totally undeserved. The building is a little grotty, although not dirty as some reviews have said, it is poorly maintained. The staff are pretty hit and miss, some are very nice and welcoming and others seem like they have better things to do than serve you. The room we had was a double, spacing in it was a tad tight. The bed took up 80% of the room leaving just enough space to shuffle around the sides, with a small desk and tiny, though adeqaute TV on top. The room was stifflingly hot and there was no way of turning the radiator off, which was a pain. The bed was ok, though it seemed to slant downwards at one end and instead of a duvet it had a blanket and cover. The en suite was pokey with decor from the 70's and a loo with a wonky flush. Overall, I'd only recommend it if everywhere else is booked or too expensive.

You get what you pay for! The entrance and reception area are very tired. Carpets in the lobbies are threadbare but hey the sheets were clean and they supply clean towels.. at that price no one has the right to complain. Good central location. Pity they don't have coffee/tea making facilities in the room. Oh and the TV has no signal.

As soon as you realize the average
As soon as you realize the average hotel pricing in London, you'll see that Majestic is actually quite a good choice, as it is in a very good location, it gives you a private bathroom, sheets and towels are changed every day, and luggage storage facility is free of charge! For crying out loud, in a city where a bed in a hostel, in a 12 people dorm, with shared bathroom and lockers for which you pay for costs like 25 pounds per person per night, i don't think that Majestic is such a bad choice, no sir, not at all.
