Great family trip

Very friendly staff and central location. Stayed with 3 young kids in family room no 1. Kids loved it. Spacious room with hot water in shower. I would compare like for like ie 5 star to 5 star and 2 star to other 2 stars. I gave stayed in all range of hotels and to be honest I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here compared to other 2/3 star hotels. Best thing is plenty of fruits all day long(sadly my kids are fussy) as well as use of kitchen amenities till 9 pm. Nice quiet location few mins walk from tube. Will definitely stay here again.

Short stay in London

The staff at the hotel was extremely courteous and very willing to help when help was requested. The breakfast was hearty and plentiful and served by an attentive staff. The location of this hotel was within a short waling distance from the tube and there was a variety of cafes, pubs, shops and even a grocery store close by. The neighborhood was clean and friendly. Unfortunately, the room was quite small and cramped. This is most likely typical of hotels in this area but not what we expected. The full-sized bed took up the majority of the floor space in the room. Overall, the facilty was a bit run-down and in neeed of updating. There was a lift which was a plus.

Convenience in Kensington

The St. Simeon is a B & B in the heart of Kensington (London). This accomodation was a few short blocks from Gloucester Tube Station as well as no shortage of shops, restaurants (ranging from Pubs to Posh), 1/2 mile from the V & A Musuem, Natural History Museum as well as Harrods. The gentlemen that my family & I encountered at the B & B's front desk were polite & accomodating always making certain to tell us not to hesitate to ask for anything. I was very impressed with their sincerity & the importance they put on customer service. We were on the top floor but there was a small working lift. Our room was TINY but was cleaned, fresh linens changed, fresh towels were replaced daily. The en-suite bathroom was spotless each day and the charming skylight window was cracked for fresh air. The daily English breakfast included a wide range of traditional foods was just okay. Maybe too many food choices. Lastly, I'd probably suggest putting better locks on the hotel doors as well as a proper working door & lock in the bathroom.

family fun in London

The hotel location was great. There was a traditional English breakfast every morning. The rooms are small but more than enough room for three people. After all you are there to see the city not spend your days in your room. We did have a little trouble with the air conditioning but hey it is part of the whole experience. The people running the hotel were very friendly and helpful. They were there answering all our questions and helping us any way they could from how things work to getting us a cab at 5:00am so we could get back to the airport. We were just minutes from the tube. A short walk to museums and Harrods. Very friendly people. We took the Big Bus Tour, what a hoot! Stopped everywhere we could. Churches, museums ,the tower, Buckingham palace, parks. Premiums London and Stonehenge tour was good. The best part was the behind the scenes at the palace. Wonderful guide. Took the Ripper tour with Donald R. Sunday evening. If you are going to do the tour he is the one to do it with. Tried many local dishes. Do fish and chips at Covent Garden. Coming from a place that uses spices the food is a little bland but still tasty. It would have been great to have more time. 4 days is just enough to give you a hint of London, but two weeks would be just the right time to see London at your leisure.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

Get every ticket for attractions you can on line this will save you time. Plan your days, but do not expect to do everything on each days list. Just go with it. Enjoy the moment. The London eye was less crowded around 7:30pm.

For the cost it was great

Excellent location in Chelsea neighborhood, 5 minute walk from the tube station at gloucester road, 10 min walk from the Natural Science museum and the victoria and albert museum, 15 minute walk to Harrods Hotel is a budget hotel run by a very kind family, amenities are ok.... the hotel was used only for sleeping and showering, it is not a luxury hotel and best serves travellers who will be out on the town for most of the days and nights

For nightlife you should go to the SOHO district. There are a lot of comedy shows there as well that are worth visiting.

Small but clean and friendly

The rooms are typically small but clean. Considering the quite low price we paid, we are very happy with what we got. The breakfast was quite nice (I had way worse in "better" hotels) but the biggest asset of the hotel is the extremely friendly staff and the special owner. All in all a pleasant experience with excellent value for the money.
