- Area description
- The RE Hotel London Shoreditch is ideally located to help you spread your wings. The beauty of Shoreditch, aside from being steeped in history is its accessibility to other parts of London and further afield. Liverpool Street station is very close by and provides rail connections to nationwide destinations as well as a direct rail link to Stansted airport. No piece of writing about Shoreditch would be complete without some information on the world famous bars. The area was previously a working class district with many traditional cottage industries which due to ever increasing modernity have slowly ceased operation; these old fashioned businesses have been replaced with some of the most hip bars in the capital if not all of Europe.People visit the bars and clubs from miles around and it has become a central meeting hub for many young professionals involved in the media and arts.

Did the trick
Hotel was very comfortable, had a nice meal the first night in the bar/restaurant, room well cleaned daily. Nice quiet stay & close to my daughter's which ticked all the boxes for me. Probably not the best of places to wander the streets at night but where is? Did the trick for me on this occasion but was a tad expensive - would have expected breakfast included at the price.

Young couple in London
Clean and comfortable hotel in a not so good location
A weekend away to relax and see the sights of London. My boyfriend and I, it was our first time in London so we were looking forward to a relaxing weekend and to experience a good quality comfortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Hotel was not the easiest to locate and when asking people around the area they had not even heard of it. The hotel is not situated in the best neighborhood and I felt very uneasy walking through the streets that evening. After finding the hotel, being very tired and stressed after a day of travelling, I found a member of staff unfriendly and moody when I declined to her offer of upgrading to a more expensive room. This made me uncomfortable and unhappy. After the bad experience with a member of staff and the bad location of the hotel I was not looking forward to seeing the rest of the hotel. To my surprise the hotel and the hotel room was very impressive. I found it all very clean and all the amenities were very satisfactory. When turning on the television there was a personal welcoming message, I found this was a very nice friendly touch. We did not spend much time in the hotel only at night so we did not get to experience the hotel during the day, nor did we eat at the hotel. I did look at the restaurant menu and found it was very expensive but I suppose you would expect the prices if you were to eat in the hotel. It was a very quiet hotel, no loud noises at night which can be found when staying in other hotels. It is a hotel that would suit couples or groups of adults that need a quiet get-away as I did not see any children during our stay. The room was cleaned in the morning and everything was spotless. We did not find any attractions around the hotel or any fun activities, as I said before it isn't situated in the best location. All in all we had a good stay and money was well spent, except for the little hiccup at the beginning!!

Entertainment tip:
Long walk from hotel
To find any entertainment or attractions I would suggest to get the closest tube that can bring you to inner London city and that can take you to connecting tube lines to almost anywhere in London. Day travel passes are very helpful and useful when you want to do plenty of travelling to the attractions of London.

Needs a Gym
Everything about this hotel is superb. It is surpisingly close to the heart of London. The staff are very nice, the rooms very very clean and organized. Internet is there (but not so fast or reliable in some areas). There is a fitness center down the road that costs £7. The hotel could do a deal to get that price down to 3-4. Taxi's are easy to get because Hackney road is s common road that the taxi's come to work on. Overall this is a great hotel.

A very comfy stay
I was only staying at the hotel for one night, and was a late arrival so didn't have long to enjoy the facilities at the hotel, other than those in my room. The staff on reception were very friendly and welcoming, even enquiring about my forthcoming wedding (they spotted my engagement ring!) and made me feel very comfortable. The room was clean and comfy and just what I needed at that time of night. I would certainly recommend this hotel!

Nice hotel bad location
Very nice hotel clean good bar and restaurant . Small rooms but decent and very clean. Bad location don't walk around at night catch the bus right in front of the hotel . We did walk in the morning to the train stop about 10 min away but coming back at night was not pleasant, watch your purses! Staff at hotel did not know much. Every question asked about tours or transportation was asked to another staff like they didn't know the answer. One staff was knowledgeable she knew bus routes and good places to go.

Great hotel
We really enjoyed our experience at this hotel. It has everything you need for a trip to London, it was very clean and nice, felt very new. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone traveling to London. My only disappointment was the distance to the center of London, but that can easily be solved by a quick trip on the underground train, walking distance from hotel is only 10 min to the station closest and then taking the train from there is very simple. Overall highly recommended!

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Take a walk to the underground metro station close to the hotel, which will get you anywhere in London in minutes for a small price. Not worth paying ridiculous amounts of money for cabs when a perfectly well-organized underground transportation system is right at your finger tips. Buy a day pass for zones 1-4 for access to all of the London highlights. Don't lose your ticket! you need it to get both in and out of the station.

2012 Easter Break
This hotel is a real gem. Yes it's not in a great location but walk to the tube station in the morning, buy your ticket then after a day of sight seeing come back by bus. There is a bus stop right outside. The service was great and the little things like the shower gels and shampoo provided were first rate. The bar area was bright and modern and had a good atmosphere. A shoe shine machine just off the hallway was a nice touch too and free of charge. The rooms were very quiet and the beds comfortable. Our stay here was most enjoyable and we would definitely stay there again if a deal was available.

London in a different way to stay
I'm a business traveller on a low budget, often in London. As this is not a good combination, I'm used to small rooms and low comfort. The Re surprised in its service and especially in the quality of food, rooms/shower and things like free WiFi. Recommended. Take a taxi from the nearest tube station, it's not close and somewhat rough area and it'll cost about UKP 8 to get there from Liverpool street station
