The Cumberland Hotel

I stayed at this hotel while on business and found it to be conveniently located for all my business meetings, surrounded by all the necessary amenities and the service was very good.

The Cumberland hotel has a great location both for touristic attractions and shopping. Our room was very comfortable and all kinds of service such as concierge, house keeping, reception were superior. I would definetly recommend it to my friends and stay there next time I visit London.

We had a fabulous time in London and this hotel is comfortable, very clean, and in an ideal location. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends and family.

Stayed two nights in the Jimi Hendrix suite, which was absolutely fabulous. Hendrix was a big inspiration, and this was his room when he passed away at his girlfriends flat. Most staff was exceptional, however a couple of girls at reception were a little difficult when changing rooms. Overall great.

Cumberland was the most impersonal hotel I have ever stayed at. Your identity as a hotel guest doesn't matter, the staff at the reception won't even mention your name once during the check-in/check-out process. You feel like you are in a room factory and should expect that your walk to your room will take a few minutes from the elevator if you are located on the far end. The rooms are tiny, on top of that they tried to put us up in a room even smaller than the one we booked through Orbitz. On the other hand, the beds were quite comfortable and the layout of the room makes up somewhat for the size-induced discomfort. There is absolutely no early check-in, which is pretty inconvenient if you arrive at 8am and have to wander around the city until 3pm without being able to freshen up in the comfort of your hotel room. All in all, the price-value ratio was acceptable and the location makes this hotel a recommended one.

For the money I paid I cannot imagine a better value. If I like to make a honest statement about my experience in this hotel, may be very difficult to spell a reason to complain.

Hotel is in a great location for hitting all the major tourist attractions in London. The Tube is just around the corner if needed, but many places are within walking distant. The room was adequate although not large. It was very typical for a city the size of London. The hotel is at the end of Oxford Street so it is great for shopping. We also walked to the London Eye, Houses of Parliament, Harrods, Picadilly Circus, and Leicester Square among other places.

The only good thing about the hotel was the location as it was very close to Marble Arch Tube Station which was very convenient. The lobby was nice but the rooms are very small and there were spider webs in a corner. The hotel is non-smoking but we continually smelled cigarette smoke coming from somewhere and saw numerous cigarette butts on the floor outside our window. Mentioned it to staff but it was never cleaned up. The shower "door" is not really a door but is more of a half wall that does not cover the entire length ofthe shower. Therefore water continually splashed onto the floor causing us to place a towel on the floor every time we showered. Disappointed in the hotel and would not stay there again.
