Good Value

This place was exactly what I was looking for; small, not a chain, a little more unique, centrally located and affordable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and a good size. I had read a few reviews that complained about the size of the room but I felt it was the perfect size for me. The room was on ground level in the front and by the reception desk so it did get noisy at times with street noise and other people checking out early in the morning but I feel like that's kind of part of staying in a building in a big city with a whole bunch of other people in it. Breakfast was NOT included (I found reading in the fine print of most of the deal listings that when it said "breakfast included" it really meant "breakfast available") however I was able to eat there and was charged when checking out. I liked having the option to eat there or elsewhere and I found that a similarly sized breakfast at a chain restaurant near Victoria Station cost about the same amount. Speaking of Victoria Station, it was only a few blocks away providing easy access to three major tube lines. If you feel like your hotel stay should put you in the lap of luxury than this place may not be for you, but if you want clean accommodations and a helpful staff to answer all your questions than this place will be just your speed.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

If you're staying a few days it is definitely worth getting a week long travel card. If you ride the tube twice a day for five days it pays itself off and it's really great to be able to get around quickly and easily without having to bother with getting tube tickets or putting more money on your card. Especially since most American debit cards don't work in the ticket machines and you have to go to the ticket window every time.

Tiny Room, Great Location

Despite enticement of being a B& B, one must actually pay for breakfast--it's not included in the price. No need to pay it as there are tons of places to eat in the area. It's a great location, but the rooms are so small that two people are very cramped. There's no place to store bags & hardly any closet or drawer space. Plan on climbing 84 stairs if you're on the top floor--there is no elevator. There's no beating the location, though. Five mins. to Victoria Station but in quiet genteel street with pubs, shops, eateries nearby.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Don't stay here if you can't climb stairs or if you want more than spartan amenities. Shower is an adventure in moistness, not wetness. If, however, you want a great location, this is hard to top. It's a toss up as to whether we'd recommend--it depends on what you want.

Great Location

This hotel was in a great area and a convenient walking distance to Victoria station. The staff was professional, polite and helpful. Rooms are small, and although the website implied that breakfast was included, there was an additional charge.

Quaint Hotel for stay in London

Great full English breakfast available or continental choices. The staff is very friendly and always willing to assist. About a 10-12 minute walk from the Victoria Station, (even shorter when it's cold). Comfy bed and nice size bathroom, internet access available & computers in the lobby. Not far from some great restaurants, Starbucks and grocery store (just in case). Would stay there again....

Friendly staff, but lacks standards

We stayed at the Georgian House Hotel for 3 nights towards the tail end of our trip to Britain to stay in a different part of London, and were disappointed to find that our "standard" room at the Georgian House Hotel was more of a bedsit in the basement rather than a standard room. Having enjoyed our stays elsewhere in London and other parts of the UK, the sudden drop in value for approximately the same price we had been paying, including exclusion of the "included" breakfast, was unexpected. To their credit, upon expressing our disappointment, the friendly staff did work with us to give us standard rooms for 2 of the 3 nights as well as the breakfast at no extra charge, albeit these changes required us to move rooms every night of our stay (as others have pointed out, they do have a porter to move your luggage, which is convenient). All in all, having to negotiate these items with hotel staff in addition to packing every morning to move within the same hotel was certainly not what I had expected when I booked this accommodation. Upon leaving, we did speak to the manager of the Georgian House to express our disappointment, who told us since they were fully booked at the time, and since we did not put in a special request for a standard room when we booked our "standard" room, there was nothing they could do - although remarkably we were offered a discount on our next stay (which we will not be taking advantage of, as there are other perfectly suitable accommodations with better value and without this type of trouble elsewhere in London). My recommendation to hotel management is to provide more accurate description of rooms with rates as well as the accommodations generally in order to establish standards of what guests should expect, and do a better job of meeting those standards upon guest arrival rather than having the guest negotiate these items after the fact. My recommendation if you do decide to book at the Georgian House is to follow the hotel manager's advice and include a special request for a more spacious room on a higher floor to avoid the more cramped layouts of the lower floors.

Great Convenient, Clean, Budget Alternative When in London

A 4-night stay. This place is a value play. Everything was terrific, esp staff eagerness to assist. No elevators, so they ensure staff are on-hand (in my case, greeted at curb-side) to take from and haul all bags at the moment of arrival. Room cleanliness is perfect in every area - rivals that of the major hotels. Location is outstanding...a couple of blocks from Victoria Station and Buckingham Palace Road. Only downside is the size of the bathroom - microscopic, even for an elf. But, again, a very "stayable" hotel.

Not like picture on internet

People at the hotel were very friendly. Make sure have map as difficult to find from Victoria Station as streets are not like USA! No lift up to the 4th floor and after a day of walking around London wasn't something we looked forward to! Room was clean, but we kept getting sewer smell. Much smaller than picture on internet, but had a queen and twin bed. They also let us check in early and kept our luggage on our last day until we were ready to go.Try to make sure you are getting what is shown on the internet and could recommend.

Nice staff, good location.

The location is great very close to the Victoria Station. The staff was nice and helpful. The rooms were well decorated and clean, a bit on the small side but nothing impossible. The breakfast was very good and the wait staff were very nice. The hotel had free wifi with a strong signal.

OK hotel...not my favorite.

The Georgian House Hotel was clean and the staff is fairly friendly, although not particularly helpful if you don't ask. The rooms are small and not very attractive, but they are clean. I'll stay somewhere else, if I return to London. I was hoping for charming, but it's not really very charming. I'd prefer a chain hotel with an elevator and larger bathrooms. Breakfast was good, and the dining area is fairly attractive. The location is just close enough to Victoria Station, so it is easy getting to any place you'd want to visit. We purchased on-off bus tour tickets at the station, and hopped on the bus across from the station the next morning. We would have had better options with the Big Bus tour, rather than The Original Tour we purchased, because the Big Bus always appeared when we needed it, but we found ourselves trying to locate or chase down the bus we had tickets for, and ended up walking far more than we liked. The bus tour is a good option if you have very little time in London, as we did. Drive-by, narrated touring provided a good overview, kind of an appetizer, of the various neighborhoods and landmarks, although we couldn't visit many of them on this trip.
